Just got home - what an amazing game. one of my best sporting experiences ever, like I'm trying to remember a time things were so intense and awesome - this may be the best ever.

Cyclone fans were out like crazy in Iowa City. We went to Big Grove brewery before the game and it was 80% Cyclone fans in there. show up for the game and while the hawkeye students showed out (the student section was FULL) the rest of the arena had a TON of red in it. we were halfway up at mid court and I and more Cyclone fans sitting withing 10' of me in any direction than hawk fans. Rough estimate at LEAST 20% - 30% Cyclones in non-student sections.

the last 10 mins were like a f'n dream, everyone from both teams were on their feet pretty much the whole time. Cyclone fans were doing "Let's Go State" & "Cyclone power" chants to the dismay of hawk fans who tried to counter (mostly failing). You could see the trainers and guys at the end of the bench looking up at the crowd and smiling hearing all pro-ISU chants which was cool to see.

It was an all-timer. If you were a cyclone in attendance BRAVO - YOU DID AWESOME.

Go Cyclones. Curtis Jones signature game.

Hawkeye Lady behind us was throwing a fit because the scoreboard had ISUs logo on a black background. "BLACK IS NOT THEIR COLOR!". Excellent job trolling your own fans!
their camera man during the time out was working HARD to keep ISU fans off the image. seemed to always be a red shirt they'd have to pan away from, it was great fun

Had an older woman iowa fan, who appeared to be there with her ISU-fan daughter and her son, tell me as she was leaving early and we were letting her pass by, "Well, I don't know what to say. But I do like Fran McCaffery."

I said, "Oh we like him, too. We love him."

She replied wondrously, "Oh really?"

I said, "Yes we want him to stay here forever."

She eventually put the pieces together and gave us a smirk.

Give Fran another one of those secret, behind the scenes, extensions! Please!

Ended up deciding to go Wednesday night. Met up with my mom, dad, and brother there (it's near a halfway point between us). Figured it would either be the worst or best Christmas present for everyone. The final seconds I told them, "Our first game here, we appear to be good luck. **** we're going to have to come back!" Couple thoughts:

-No bad encounters with any mouth breathers. One guy in front of my mom kept turning around and giving us a look whenever Iowa made a basket. He had a rough final 4 minutes.

-Amazing how that place deflated when we got it tied up (even a couple minutes before that). They knew it was coming and started filing out.

-Love the hawk comments that we struggled with them so we obviously suck. They're not a great team, but in a weak BIG they could end up having a good season. Selling yourselves short to get a dig at us is an interesting strategy, but alright.

-Clone Cone>then Carver frozen desert

-Extend Fran

Great time, might have to go back. My gf's boy is undefeated in games I've brought him to (UNI football '23, Kansas basketball '24, Iowa basketball '24). Might have to move closer to Ames.

Awesome! You and the fans that made the trip were great.

Home court in college basketball is the biggest betting advantage and real life advantage out of any major sport. Seriously, college basketball lines are effected more and home field advantage matters more in college basketball than in NFL football, NBA basketball, college football. It's not even close. To win at the home of a competent rival (Iowa will probably be a bubble-type team) is always great, but even better when your own fans show up and show out. Way to go, clones_jer!

Fran wrote the playbook on how to beat us this year, his team just didn't remain hot enough, long enough.

That being said, bravo fellow Clones who were there. I'm so glad I went.
BYU killed Iowa State in Provo last year with the kick behind the double-team to the open wing. Have to be able to knock them down though

1) there are only a couple tickets (worst seats in the building) listed at $32, which of course doesn't include an $18 fee per ticket added on. The rest are $40+ (before fee)

2) hard to compare a nearly sold out Hilton to the morgue known as Carver for men's basketball.

Cheap/reasonable for their home games would be closer to $25 all in, IMO.
FWIW - I spent $62+~$25 in fees for midcourt halfway up (row 23) and it was GLORIOUS. I've spent $87 on FAR more worthless experiences. Hell, I spent half that at Big Grove Brewery before the game, beers & burger were good, but not nearly the joy that game was. Looking back I'd have paid $500 if I was promised that outcome.
it was surreal having so many Iowa & ISU fans mixed together and that final 10 mins will be burned into my brain for a lifetime.
