I thought that it might be part of the high average student loan, along with apartments and cars that are better than needed by a college student.
These cheap beers are what we like to call "volume" beers - ie you can afford to drink a ton of them in a sitting. As opposed to "good" beer with actual hops and malt in them. Finish a 12 box of Coors Light, no problem. Finish a 12 box of Ranger IPA and you are in trouble.
For me on this list, I like Coors Light, Miller High Life, Rolling Rock.

I had a couple friends put together a cheap beer tasting night a couple years ago. It was a blind taste test with scorecards and we all sampled about 30 beers, rated them and tried to name them. Aside from the ice beers and some malt liquors they included, everybody was all over the board in what they liked and couldn't accurately name anything. There was definitely probably an order effect in the results though. Fun party idea though.
My wife seems to prefer Coors light over Miller and Bud lite. I told her they all taste the same and to buy whatever is on sale. We had some friends who felt the same about Coors light so we decided to have a little taste test. I put out 5 glasses and did a blind taste test. Water, Coors light, Bud Light, Miller Lite, and Highland Lite. I was the only one who could pick out the majority and the two people who LOVE coors lite each picked Highland lite as their favorite and got Coors light and Miller Lite mixed up. They only thing everyone got right was that the water was actually water.
Moral of the story, unless you have some good craft beer....I really don't care what I drink.

I stopped reading after he said Yuengling sucks. I have five cases on its way back from Georgia as we speak. I gave a co-worker 100 bones just so could have this all summer long...well maybe all summer.
Yuengling has a great story . . . but not such great flavor to me. Glad you enjoy it.
