Something for @wxman1

Channel flipped into this on one of my guilty pleasure reality TV thingies, Ice Airport Alaska. One of stories in this episode is guys flying an 80 year old airframe DC-3 delivering cargo to remote locations. The engines caught my eye (those ain't Pratt & Whitney radials) so had to look it up. It's a Basler BT-67, an old DC-3 airframe with turbo-prop engines, still Pratt & Whitney's but turbos.

Basler does some incredible work updating DC-3s to continue flying. They actually had C-47 That's All Brother before its history was discovered the CAF started the recovery/restoration project on it.

The usefulness and the longevity of the DC-3 and C-47 is amazing. Good to see companies out there keeping them going.

@wxman1 and @BoxsterCy got me wondering how many DC-3/C-47 aircraft might still be operational. First search hit returned this result. Bit old but here's is a 2020 piece about the "Immortal DC-3" for those interested.

Looks like avian flu is hitting the egg producers again. Went to buy eggs and the shelves were almost bare with a sign noting "issues with their supply chain". My go to brand was completely absent.

Six cases have been found in chicken flocks in Iowa leading to millions of heads being culled over the last week.

Oooh, I'm behind then. I only knew of 2 in Sioux County and 1 turkey flock in Palo Alto County. Maybe 6 million birds altogether..?

Not exactly sure.
Wife came home for an on line class over supper time. She has the volume up, (I always wear buds for mine if anyone is around, I don't think anyone cares to hear my stuff, but whatever, no biggie) so I can hear it. Elementary teachers teach each other like they are in elementary. I would not be able to pay attention if I was an El Ed teacher.

Just as I finish typing that I hear some voices, not my in my head, and it appears the wife has another video she's watching on her phone while this is going. She must be bored also.

Random. Think this is favorite catchy song stanza of 2024.

I made my way back to LA
And that's where you'll be forgotten
In 40 years you'll still be here
Drunk, washed up in Austin

Now wondering what the Tuesday OT music challenge will be tonight? Been a while since it's been one I could respond to.

If he is back in LA, wouldn’t here be LA and not Austin?

That's not the storyline. She moves back to LA. He was supposed to come with her but last moment bailed out and stayed in Austin.

We had a plan, move out of this town, baby
West to the sand, it's all we talked about lately
I'd pack the car, bring your guitar and Jane for smokin'
First thing at dawn, you'd cue the songs and we'd get goin'
