I and the rest of my work team have been through the wringer the past two and a half months with new software coming on-line. A lot of it could have been avoided with better preparation, but we can't go back in time and fix that. The one big gaping hole that continues to be there, though, is that we never received proper training on the new system.
Fast forward to yesterday, and the rumors that had been swirling come true. Basically, they want to increase our team's responsibilities by 25-33%. (And I'm probably underestimating) A team meeting was held today, and luckily our supervisor is on our side. I had forgone the podcast I usually listen to on Thursday mornings driving in, and practiced an argument/speech just in case our supervisor wasn't totally in our corner. I was able to make my point in the meeting of 1) We need black & white documentation of how to do things on the new software and not just the piece-meal learning that's happening, and 2) If we are taking on this increase of responsibility, what is going to be our permanent compensation for it? The people making these decisions for us don't understand what we've been doing and what this means for us. I'm hoping the words "permanent compensation" will kick them in the arse to understand it's going to cost the company money to do what they're doing.
If something doesn't change to the positive for our team (increase in pay or these new responsibilities removed) I will weaponize my flex and/or vacation time that I have left.
