i think Lipsey Gilbert Omaha are locks with King or Jones at C

5th spot is what's tough it could be Pav or Milan or Watson, i think one of those 3.
i went with Pav cause he's proven scorer in D1 and i think we can use all the shooting we can get.

i don't see the freshman outside of Omaha and Milan contributing much this year, with 5 solid rotation guys returning and a few transfers who proved it already at D1 level, guys like Hamilton Fish Rock would have to really outperform expectations to crack rotation this year. but it's possible for sure. also injuries and guys leaving happens. so never know.

what are your expectations?

I don't see how you keep Momcilovic out of the starting lineup after what CTJO said about him in his latest press conference. Talking about his offensive prowess, but the thing that stood out for me is how coach believed he was really getting after it on defense as well.

I think there's a good shot that Curtis Jones gets that 3rd guard/wing spot. Probably a better positional fit alongside Lipsey as well at 6'4" and was a decent rebounder last year at Buffalo. Have heard some good things this offseason. He needs to continue to progress in the weight room but he might be the best shooter on the team (or Milan).

I'm not sure who TJ picks to start in the post. Could be any of the three and it may change over the course of the season. You can obviously mix and match throughout the game but maybe it comes down to who fits best playing alongside Milan in that second unit.

he definitely could i just wonder if TJ wants to have 2 freshman starting, especially on defense. also i worry about being a little slow and not enough ball handling with Milan Omaha and a center.

will be nice to have options with lineups.

yea i think it'll be whoever is best scorer/shooter cause plenty of rebounding already with Lipsey Omaha King/Jones. if that's Curtis then for sure has a chance at starting.

Curtis Jones
Omaha
Robert Jones

Bench:
Tre King
Paveletzke
Milan
Watson
Hason Ward

Bigs playing time will vary game to game based on foul trouble. Tre King doesn't start to help save him for end of game situations. Much better free throw shooter and more skilled overall player than BRE.

That is a really long second unit. I guess that's a TWSS-type statement.

Looking at these lineups, who's the backup PG for Lipsey? Or all of the guards able to bring up the ball?

Not going to lie, I'd hate to be Otz at the beginning of conference play. Figuring out these rotations are going to be difficult - hopefully in a good way. The one bonus is the easier schedule he's got to work with in figuring it all out.

It seems one strength of Oz and staff have is they communicate clearly what is needed out of a player and that may even mean providing a rationale for why they start, come in in certain situations, etc.

I think Paveletzke is most likely to be the backup PG, but I think the answer to your second question is, yes, all of the guards will be able to bring up the ball. Both Pav and Gilbert played point guard at least some of the time in their previous stops. I don't think Curtis Jones technically played point guard. But he had a high assist percentage for a shooting guard and a really low turnover percentage, so he certainly can be a capable playmaker.

Starting will be less important with this team unless Robert Jones improves his shot and handle.

Lipsey
C Jones
King
Omaha
Jones

Ward
Gilbert/Pav
Watson/Momc.

I think whoever is hot gets to be on the floor most. Long and athletic starters, good offensive splashes off the bench. Ward can come in and give Jones time to gas.

Plus you could run a ton of different sets depending on matchups.

I couldn't tell you the starting lineup or how next year's rotation is going to work out. Too many talented players and what combinations work out is impossible to say at this point. Lipsey is a lock at point, but beyond that who knows. We have the option to go big. ..Lipsey, Gilbert, Omaha, King, Rob. We could also go with 4 guards at times. I do think this is the most talent/depth TJ has had to work with.

Just looking at the roster, we’ve got some good depth.
