Happens all the time. Stashing fish in cages around the lake used to be the more prevalent manner.

To be fair, they aren't professionals, they are sponsored fishermen. They have day jobs.

This may run deep. They have won some tournaments through the years which resulted thousands of dollars in prizes and new Ranger walleye boats. Without a doubt, the sponsors will pull their sponsorships and may ask for a return of items and or may sue for prior payments. Also, it sounded like felony charges could be or have been filed.

The best way to make a million dollars is to take two million dollars and start participating in fishing tournaments.

Feels like the Seinfeld when Mickey puts lifts in his shoes kind of lunacy.

Way up there
People seem a bit mad.

In 2021, the Toledo Blade reported that Cominsky and Runyan were disqualified from the Fall Brawl fishing event, after they had apparently won, because one of them had failed a polygraph test.

WTF? Winners are taking lie detector tests? This fishing stuff ain't go game.

It's pretty funny that professional fishers are actually checked when the joke is that fishers are known to exaggerate the size and numbers of fish caught.

Did they say why the fish was cut open in the first place? Like what tipped them initially?

I wonder if enough people spoke up in knowing that a fish that size likely didn't weigh what the scale was saying.

Like from my experience I know that if someone shows me a picture of a 12 inch smallmouth bass and says they were catching 2 lb bass, that's extremely unlikely.

The sirens in the background add some good comedy.

Cheating like that is B.S. but this clip runs like a skit.

I've seen plenty of people get caught and not get caught cheating in my racing and not once have a seen the craziness of this video.

I think in one picture you could see the weights bulging in its stomach. And people were saying the cheater’s 10 lb fish looked the same size as their 5 lb fish, they knew something was up.

I remember being at a race when I was I kid and someone got caught with something...the driver flipped out in protest and the crowd gave him some **** but I don't recall the other drivers and teams gathering and yelling at him like the way Bill Burr impersonates belligerent idiots, haha.

Remember, it’s not cheating to hold your fish up at arm’s length towards the camera. (Probably only fishermen will get this)

In the attached article it did. It said the director said you can catch 4lb fish all day every day there, and he is so used to them coming in for weighing that when they brought in one that he was sure would be a 4lb fish that weighed double, he suspected something. So he squeezed the fish and felt something hard inside, so decided to cut it open to check, and found the large weights.

These 2 have been suspected for quite a while of cheating the way the article reads, and finally were caught. The are/were leading the standings for the championship.

I am sure they have won a lot and brings all of those into question.

Yeah, not sure how to describe it, but the chest puffing mentality really comes out. I understand that they’re probably passionate about their sport. Like, yeah they cheated and you have proof, but screaming like that isn’t worth the effort. Just go the the officials with the proof.

I don’t know what the charges will be here, but other states have convicted fishing contest cheaters with felonies.
