Prince to resign from KSU

kind of surprising in my mind. 2.5 seasons is not a long leash. I hope we give Chiz more of a chance than that.

I say we give Chiz at least five years. That way, his recruits will be making the difference on the field. After five years, if we still suck, kinda like we do this year, we can evaluate our options.

I thought they forced Synder out. Funny how rebuilding goes in Prince's 1st year some were saying look out KSU football is back. In his first year some were saying how great of a coach he was, now in year 3 he is out of a job.

Didn't they just give him a 4yr. extension before the season? That's going to be a big payoff.

KSU fans I know viewed the extension as giving Prince 1 more year to win. When they gave him the extension, his buyout was significantly reduced.

Also, the preferred choices from the same KSU fans are Patterson (TCU) and Venable (OU). I don't believe they can outbid TCU, but Venables would be possible.

Typical Wildcat fan here. No the fan base does not think the team has anything special in the way of talent. They have thrown in the towel on Prince because he is so inconsistent. Remember, this is the man that said KSU would have an outstanding offensive line because he was an offensive line coach only to later say that it was not important to control the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball. Prince is also the guy that had assistant coaches running stairs after a scrimmage and had players running wind sprints at 3 AM in street clothes after returning home from Louisville.

Prince just this year burned the last two minutes of the first half and kicked an extra point in the 3rd quarter when a 2 point conversion was needed to tie the game at Colorado. He also had his team go for it on 4th down twice when inside their own 30 against Colorado.

Someone tell me how more time would help a coach that mentally flawed.

Snyder at KSU sounds like Osborne stepping in at Nebby, Snyder may be almost 70, but we almost voted in a 72 year old to run the country (You can move this part of the sentence to politicalfanatic if you want). I dont think Snyder's age matters as JoePa is 82 and doing just fine.

I think Snyder's age matters a lot. Joe Pa is the exception. I just think the recruits aren't going relate to Snyder and they know it's likely he won't be there in 4 or 5yrs.

Mark May ripping K-State for forcing the Fresh Prince out without giving him a chance to get a recruiting class in as freshmen and out as seniors.

It is pretty dumb to fire a guy only 2 games below .500 after 3 years at a place like K-State. There has to be more behind the scenes that we don't know about. If Iowa State fired Chizik at this time next year I'd be outraged and his record will be a lot worse. Gotta give a coach a chance. The amount of jucos Prince brought in last year prolly doesn't help matters. If you're going to bring that many in ATLEAST make a bowl game.

Personally, I think this is a really dumb move on KSU's part. Snyder spoiled them, and now they demand "add-water and shake" success. If they run somebody off after two years, with 1 bowl trip, in Manhattan KS, they are NEVER going to find somebody who wants to go there, unless he can win very, very quickly and springboard somewhere else. Watching this go down, really makes me hope we can be patient with Chizik. If we chase him off without giving him at least 5 years, who the hell is going to want to come here? We would be on our way to the dark, dark ages, which is where I think KSU is heading...

I'm almost sure that the decision was driven by money, or more specifically, lack of it. One of the beat writers for KSU is saying in interviews that Prince has alienated pretty much every segment of the fan base. Usually that goes hand in hand with withholding of donations. KSU is in the midst of a 70 million dollar facility upgrade campaign so it's not difficult to connect the dots.

this is spot on....

He has not only alienated the Alumni, but been abusive to players (publicly called the whole team competively imature last week), training staff and asst coaches......add that, too not wining, and you make a change

So, he's alienated the alumni since last December? He was walking on water then.

Seems to me that he was attempting to challenge his players. And being honest. That many juco players would be "competetively immature"--and far better in '09.

Of course, after seeing that many juco transfers last February, I also had the feeling even before the season that he'd be gone.
