I decided I could tolerate Freeman with the sheepish look he had when he banked in a free throw.

Seemed like they couldn’t hit shots late cause they had no legs for the threes. Fran did not seem to leave subs in very long. Either not much depth or depth he doesn’t trust.

Random stuff from the stands:
  • If you take the 3 sections of students out of the equation (they showed up), I would say Cyclone fans made up about 3/8 of the crowd. Just a wild-ass guess based on shirt colors in the seats, but there were A LOT of Cyclone fans there. I think the area we were in was more cardinal than black.
  • It doesn't seem like Iowa basketball attracts the mouth-breathing, drunken morons like Iowa football -- everything was pretty chill.
  • I hadn't been in that hole in the ground for a long time, and then it was for wrestling. If you're sitting above half-way up, it's tough to find a clear view to a scoreboard for the score and player stats.
  • Maybe Hilton does this now, too -- I sadly haven't been in quite a while -- but every timeout had some goofy crap going on, like shooting contests, stuff tossed up into the seats, dance cams, etc. It felt like a minor-league baseball game. Of course, I suppose when you're grasping at straws to try to get people to come to the games...

Haven’t read the thread, so apologize if it’s been discussed, but…

…Heise is a bad mother ******.

EDIT: Watch the second half again, sans the first 4 minutes. He gets caught in the wash a couple times early in the half, but my lord he flipped a switch. He did the same thing against Marquette.

I was surprisingly calm all game. Not because I knew we would win, but because I know we have a really, really good team.

I told a customer from Michigan that sometimes you know your team is not as good as their ranking, but I honestly think we are a top 5 team this year.
Totally agree. Folks, we look really good.

The group was just so calm tonight.

not sure how things looked on tv, but my general game takeaways on the court:

- the hawks couldn't miss from outside and we somehow couldn't figure out how to not leave a shooter wide open on the corner
- Freeman has gotten better from last year, but I still don't know why we didn't bully him more by going to Jackson. He seemed to score on every opportunity, but we just stopped giving him the ball and missed a ton of 3s instead.
- Curtis Jones working his way up to Mt Rushmore status ...
- Gilbert had a rough time of it for 30 mins, finally switched from seeking fouls to seeking baskets and finished strong
- Chatfield kinda got owned imho
- Lipsey shooting threes early seemed like a terrible plan, but wtf do I know? ended up working
- Dix is a nice player, gross as that is to say
- lololol peyton sandfort

Heise is such a weapon. Can do a little bit of everything on offense, but on defense he’s just so versatile. He stays in front of guys better than lipsey, Gilbert or Jones. Can guard 1-4. I figured he’d get a lot of time on sandfort tonight. If he can stay in front of Kam Jones, he can sure the hell stay in front of Josh Dix.
I remember somebody commenting when he committed that Nate was a wasted scholarship.

Not sure why you’d say we didn’t play well
Yeah I thought we played pretty well. Iowa was pretty playing lights out for huge stretches, getting every whistle, and making every shot. Always extremely difficult to win there - we rarely do!

Goodness that was fun!

Never seen an Iowa basketball player with arms anywhere near those.
That dude from Dubuque. Escapes at the moment but starts with promsel or something like that was cut. Us old timers remember Kent Hill on the Marble, Armstrong Horton.

Say what you want about Iowa basketball but when I heard Ed Horton kicked half their wrestling team’s ass one night I made him my fav Hok of all time.

I really wish CuJo would have planted the isu flag on the #22 logo. Or at least danced on it.
the 22 is SO small and barely noticeable in person unless you're looking for it.

seeing it, it's weird to say, but they kinda did Caitlin dirty on that. I mean comeon
