He can’t really believe this is going to take 4 years. This video didn’t make me feel any better.
Hell no he doesn’t believe this will take 4 years. This was all carefully worded but basically he’s saying that OU and UT aren’t getting out of this for free.
This. TX/OU were banking that the Big 12 orphans would quickly scramble for new homes ASAP and avoid paying the combined $150M in exit fees. Of course, they are not entirely wrong, but they have little control over when other P5 conferences make their moves and when the orphans actually find new homes. It's possible, though unlikely, that everyone could stand pat for a year or two, which would make UT/OU a rather uneasy. JP's carefully worded statement just increases that pucker factor.
