Pollard interview from today on 365 sports if anyone is interested. The title of the video doesn’t really accurately portray the whole interview as they talk B10/SEC strongarming the rest of college football, NIL, Cytown, Ireland, and more.

Good interview and I agree with JP on his takes on the subjects discussed.

One minor thing JP was incorrect on— BYU has played football in Ames. We beat them when they visited in 1974.

JP struggles between "these guys are destroying our sports" and "just gives us the rules and we will figure things out." He clearly understands we're not driving the bus right now.

A lot of people just don't realize how fortunate we are to have JP leading our program during this incredibly chaotic time in college athletics. I struggle to think of decisions he's made that I didn't agree with.

He commented on something I didn't even think about...that KState gave up their home game to play us in Ireland. He said if it was us who had to give up the home game, he's not sure he could have pulled it off.

Great interview. I was going to post that he’s so transparent and then the hosts said the same thing at the end. Haters are going to hate but JP has done so much good for ISU as a whole.

I've been a fan of ISU since '97 so I am biased against before that time, but if I'm in charge of carving the ISU sports Mnt Rushmore it's Pollard then really tough choices for the other 4.

I don't get how every ISU fan doesn't absolutely love the guy given the realities of what we've had to fight against...and SUCCEEDING through it. We're at the peak of success despite the deck being more and more stacked.

I genuinely wonder if the Big 12 holds without him, not just ISU but the rest of the 8 could owe him at least a little.

1. JP
2. Johnny Orr

3 and 4 would be open to argument.

(There's only 4 likenesses on Rushmore.)

Add TJ and Campbell. Seems pretty obvious, and I'm not forgetting about coaches from long ago like Majors and Bruce.

They are on pace. TJ especially if this is sustainable. Not that I don't think CMC has done a great job, it's just a heavier lift in that sport and our situation.

Yormark has the media and entertainment connections we needed. But JP could have been a very capable commissioner for any major conference.
I agree but in reality JP has too much DGAF for that job. He'd speak his mind publicly and piss someone off (that maybe should be pissed off) and end up on the outs with the wrong group who has power.

If any guy knows he isn't driving it's JP

Dude has been through the wars to the point he discovered ISU was in the have-nots of have-nots.

His guidance has been nothing short of spectacular. Some luck and good fortune involved? Sure, but he's played his hand as well as anyone.

Not sure what you mean by "struggles" but compared to comments he made last summer regarding B10/Fox/SEC/ESPN bullying, he was tame and obviously biting his tongue in this interview.

And that is understandable with ongoing negotiations for the new CFP format in 2026 and desired tweaks by the SEC and B10 in 2025 for auto byes to the B12, ACC and/or G5 which can be voted down (but not for 2026 and beyond).

And he did some tap dancing relative to athlete RevSharing starting in July due to the fact that the House Settlement has not been formally approved and ISU's plans relative to WWC/Learfield involvement with RevShare have not been publicly disclosed.

What I appreciate most about JP is his honesty. He doesn't sugar coat anything and tells it as it is, even if it's something we don't necessarily want to hear
