Ok so my craving for some fried chicken last night inspired this poll. Who do you think makes the best fried chicken? I have to say Popeye's has moved slightly above KFC on my list because I like the spicy version.

Right on! Stroud's has the best yard bird around! Great place to go when in town for the B-12 tournament next year. Don't forget though, the old Stroud's off of Holmes in closed and gone. Only Oak Manor location is left (I think).

Oh I love me some Pizza Ranch. I have absolutely gorged myself there a few times.

We used to always go to the old Stroud's. The one on Oak Manor didn't have enough character for us....Great Chicken though.

Speaking of KC, I could probably do another poll on BBQ places alone too. I always have to at least eat at 1 BBQ place when I am in KC.

On the road...
Bojangles. It's a chain of chicken and biscuit fast food restaurants in the south. Big, thick and juicy chicken with a wicked good seasoning on them.

WAY too many excellent BBQ joints to choose from....oh, where to begin...Zarda's in Blue Springs, Arthur Bryant's in KC, Gate's BBQ and many many more. My suggestion? Try them all! We lived there 3 years and we attempted to do exactly that. Delicious.

They just opened one in Bentonville. I must say I'm pretty impressed so far. These types of places have been the latest craze here....Bojangles, Chick-fil-a, Slim Chickens, Church's, and Zaxby have all appeared in the last year or so.

Been to Gates and Aurthur Bryants and used some of Zarda's sauce. All 3 are yummy but I like them for different things. AB's makes a great brisket sandwich but I wouldn't use their sauce on ribs. Gates makes some great ribs and burnt ends. That place though you either have to hope there is a line so you can take a look at the menu or know what you want before you go because they don't mess around. If there is no line when you walk in that door they want to know what you want to order right away!

We've gone to 1 Chiefs game a year lately and we always have to do some ribs with Gates at tailgating. Some folks there make some really good tailgate food!

Hands down Bojangles on "fast" food chicken.

Do not even get me started on their Boberry Biscuits. OH MY GOD I need to move back to NC.

It used to be KFC, but now I would have to say Popeye's. KFC has really gone down in some ways.

I was just at Zardas before the Royals home opener and the sauce is still great, the pork sandwich seemed to change. Very thin sliced now. Great smoke flavor but always remember it being a thicker piece of meat. Still good but the old way was excellent. Usually get the ribs but didn't want to stuff myself before the game. Fiorella's Jackstack is another good bbq place.

Going back to chicken, anyone remember A&W's chicken? I always liked that better than HyVee but that is going back about 20 years or more. Broaster Chicken isn't too bad. It's at various locations and I had some at a Maid Rite/Broaster/TCBY store once.

I have to also totally agree with Stroud's in KC. A little pricey, but well worth it for everything. Just expect to put on about 5 lbs. at your meal. And BBQ I agree is a whole different conversation. I have favorite things at each of the places down there and absolutely love Bryant's and Oklahoma Joe's.

Ditto on Strouds. When I lived in downtown KC, I would drive a half hour to the one north of town for carryout. I don't know where they found chickens big enough to provide that feast.
