Plumbing: Temporarily stopping water shut off valve

I'll be redoing the 2nd bathroom in my house over the next couple of weeks. Today I went in to rip everything out, and immediately ran into a problem:

Do any of you know if they sell caps I can put temporarily on where the supply lines were or any other way to keep the valves from leaking?

The hot water shut off valve isn't working properly; you can continually spin it right... it shuts off most of the water, but it still trickles in a bit. I tightened the bolt behind the knob but it didn't help much.

Since it looks like they're the type that are soldered on, I'm hoping to avoid paying for someone to come out to replace them if possible... It'll probably take me a while to get everything done, otherwise I'd just shut off the main water supply

Yeah, you should be able to find a plug to put in there.

Ace or lowes sells something called a sharkbite cap. Cost ya about 7 bucks and it just presses on, no tools. My favorite thing to use to fix leaks

Make sure you get an accurate measurement of pipe & note whether it is ID or OD. They make them in 1/8 increments from 3/8 to 1/2 nominal which is ID.

Depending on how much you want to do, you can use Sharkbite connectors to attach to your pipe with no soldering whatsoever. Those connectors are pretty good - connect to CPVC, Pex, and copper.

This, sharkbites are the way to go to stop temporary leaks. Never had any problems with these fittings.
