The only thing that bothers me is that some conferences have championship games and others dont, allowing teams like Ohio State to slip through the back door. The big 10, pac 10, and big east should be playing championship games, which would make for more of a playoff in and of itself.

I don't think the Big 10 and Pac 10 are allowed to have a championship game, the NCAA only allows that if there are 12+ teams in a conference.

I don't believe that to be correct, I am pretty sure the NCAA has left that up to each conference to decide if they play a conference title game or not.

I could very well be wrong, just my understanding of it.

No, I'm pretty sure you have to have 12 teams to have a championship game. I remember the ACC going through that process when VT and Miami left the Big East.

I don't really have a problem with the Pac-10 or Big East, since all the teams play each other every year. The Big-10 is a tough deal though, since not all the teams play each other every year. The Big 10 will always have a natural advantage when it comes to the national championship because of this.

At the end of the day, the conference do this to themselves.

jumbo is correct a conference has to have 12 teams to have a conference championship. This is the reason why the ACC expanded a couple years back.
