I don't think HB will be able to guard NBA 2-guards - HB just looks so SLOW even at the college level.

Garnett re-signed with the team that drafted him a couple of times. You don't see that nearly as much without shelling a ridiculous amount of money for a player who is progressing as hoped. The problem is developing a player and then having them bolt to greener pastures as soon as they are starting to fulfill the promised potential.

With the way salaries are set up now, it is extremely common for draft picks to resign with the team that drafted them after their first contract is up. That team can offer them more money than they can make going to a new team, so in most cases you have the guy you draft for 6-7 years. If you can't give him a reason to stay after that period of time, then it's on the team, not the player for leaving.

This site is usually pretty good about predicting draft stock: NBADraft.net

Jones is #3 right now, he has been #1 earlier this year. You have to realize NBA teams tend to draft more on potential which is why Jones is highly thought of because he's still pretty raw.

Interesting, they've got him listed as a SF in the NBA.

As an NBA exec...id take sullinger all day long. He seems to be a taller, more skilled version of dejuan blair but with good knees. Depending on my teams need i dont think theres a question of whether to take sullinger or not.

You can't teach Sullinger height or athleticism but you can teach Perry Jones post moves. I don't think Sullinger has the star potential that Jones has, and I know some scouts have some questions about how effective his post moves will be against taller, more athletic defenders.

The lack of quality big men in the college game make it tough to really judge a big guy like Sullinger. A guy as strong and as fundamentally sound as Sullinger is just gonna eat up most college big guys, the NBA might be a different story.

i dont question that point of view. In my opinion though i guess i would say that i cant see Sullinger as a bust. Maybe not an All Star year in and year out but idk if you cant say the same as teaching sullinger the same stuff as Jones. If im thinking correct Jones and Sullinger are only an inch difference in heigth i believe and its not like sullinger isnt a skilled athletic big man....he just doesnt jump outta the gym like jones can and jones is more explosive but we could debate this all day long i guess

Sullinger is listed at 6'9 but I have a feeling he'll be a lot closer to 6'8 when he gets measured at the combine, Jones is 6'11. But I completely agree with you about Sullinger not being a bust. Like I said in an earlier post, I think he's a 12/8 guy from the time he comes into the league. Just thinking from an NBA GM's perspective there's a lot of pressure to use the top pick to try and hit a home run with Jones, rather than make a "safer" pick, like Sullinger would be.

Sullinger will have a long career, if healthy, but it seems like scouts try too hard to get that super stud. Sullinger would be a conservative pick but almost no chance of being a bust. Personally, I wouldn't take him first but it depends on the team needs.
