I don't think so. It's been rumored for a month or so. He always wanted to go to Cornell and for some reason signed with Iowa State. After some calls by KJ to Koll, got him there and KJ gave him a release. That's the rumor. Don't know if that money is spent or being used to get Brody Grothus.
Do you mean KJ was calling Koll because KJ was upset that Koll was still recruiting him? I hope KJ wasn't calling Koll trying to convice him that Koll should take Pena...
No it was my understanding Pena wanted out. He wanted to look at Cornell, so KJ called Koll to see if there was any room. Not sure, but got the feeling we were going to lose Pena no matter what, so KJ tried to help Pena out. Not sure, but 2nd thoughts by Pena after he committed to Iowa State
Sounds like KJ is not one to screw over a kid if he wants/needs a change of scenery or has a change of heart. Witness both Long and Cyler. Hopefully it will pay off somewhere down the road.

Yeah, I think Pena probably asked KJ for a release and KJ asked why. Pena probably explained desire to go to Cornell. KJ probably said let me call Koll and see if there is interest, then we'll talk about the release. Wonder if Cisneros is looking at Cornell. Better to lose him now than after a full year at ISU. Still don't understand how you can sign and a few months later decide you want out.
