I have had four beers from Peace Tree (Double IPA, Hop Rangler, Rye Porter, and Ramblin Red) and I am in love with this place. Has anyone else had the beer?

Also what is the brewery like? Is it a brew pub, bar, or something else? I am planning on making a trip this next week.

I saw the Double IPA in Hy-Vee one night and decided to pick up a bottle. The next night I went back and bought every bottle they had sitting out on the shelf. However, the Double IPA is the only variety I've tried so far. Glad to hear the others are also good.

I've heard a lot about this brewery in the past couple of weeks...wish I was there to try some. Just goes to show what good beer and good marketing can do for a company in a state that has potential to produce great beer.

I found there beer at Brewfest a couple of weekends ago. I thought their blonde beer was one of the best I had all day there. Was a little sad to find out they don't bottle it. I have bought the red rambler from hy vee, and enjoyed it as well.

It's "OK". Definitely on the plus side of average, but nothing I get too excited about. It has potential for sure. All-in-all, they are on the right track, but aren't quite to the destination yet. I've heard great things about their actual facilities, and I'm hoping they make a go of it and continue to improve!

In the matter of several months they're barking on the heels of Olde Main and Millstream (which I actually find quite boring, albeit well made) as the top breweries in the state. I haven't had a bad beer come out of their.

The gf and I made the trip down to Knoxville back in March and it made for a great Saturday afternoon. It was maybe the 2nd or 3rd week that the brewery was open, and everyone there was great. We got to talk to the owners and the brewmaster, and just had a really good time.

Peace Tree will be joining Olde Main at my "All-Iowa" tailgate this fall where I consume nothing (food or alcohol) that wasn't made or grown in this great State. Bloody Mary's made w/Hair of the Dawg and Hawkeye Vodka. Brats from my dad's hogs. Mustard from a little place in SW Iowa that sells @ the DSM farmer's market. Kraut that my gf's dad makes from his garden, and Sterzing's chips. And of course, lots of Iowa beer!

Never been to Knoxville and don't drink anything but miller lite, but, we were in town for a wedding and stopped there for a quick couple. Very nice facility, great lite beer (don't know the name), and very friendly people that run the place! Saw numerous people bring jugs in, get them filled, and leave!

Hawkeye vodka is not made in Iowa, it is made in St Louis.

Another really good new Iowa beer is Madhouse. I have had their Belgian Wheat and Pale Ale and both are VERY good. I think I heard that it is made by the same people who run the Jasper Winery.

When it started it was based out of Marshalltown, they sold it to a company in St. Louis... They might still make it in Marshalltown.

Well, I'm not crazy then.

Madhouse is pretty good beer as well, and it is made by the same folks as Jasper Winery. I think Madhouse is part of the reason they moved the winery to DSM. Something about not having a brewery and winery under the same roof.
