Use an offense that is contrary to what the entire college football world is using. I don't care what, just try something different.

I'll take your question seriously, I'd prefer to have a Qb , be it a third or fourth team Qb as the holder for extra points, and have them practice repeatedly, daily, all try for 2 points plays, so .. when the occasion arrives we can get the 2 points we need. Having four or five Qb's give one of them a reason to stay involved and execute some plays with a purpose. The greatest need on a team is the need to be needed.

The uniform & logo design department. We have better designers posting to this forum. There are ways of building enthusiasm & momentum for a program besides hiring new coaches every other year.
I was never a fan of the Criner and Walden yellow helmets but that one on the left I could totally get with. It is bad ***.

I most definitely agree with this. It made me cringe last year every time seeing Nigel Tribune and some of our corners play 10 yards off the line of scrimmage. Quarterbacks from other teams simply ate that up and threw quick slants and screens for a guaranteed 5-7 yards, that was just simply too easy.

Now if you have an elite receiver and we aren't lining up our best corner I understand that logic, but to have Tribune so far away from the receiver most of the time 10 yards off just negates his ability to bump him at the line and slow them down..

I would employ the scheme where the Iowa State O-Line blocks the defensive line and keeps them out of the backfield as well as opening running lanes.

Good idea. I'd like to add onto that and say I'd use a defensive scheme where the our DBs aren't beaten on most plays, our linebackers stay healthy and tackle anyone who reaches them, and the D-Line puts pressure on the the QB(our linebackers could do this when they get sent in on a blitz too).

We should apply as coaches somewhere. With your offensive scheme and my defensive scheme we could put together a winning team somewhere.

Agreed. Who gives a **** if we give up more big plays. Offenses still scored at will on us... Might as well put some pressure on them every once in awhile. It's when they get comfortable that they start picking us apart.

At times (very few times), we were able to get Brackens to apply pressure on a blitz and it worked well. Not sure why we didn't try it more.

One offensive play that I think we will see more is Montgomery on slant routes. He did a great job of using his big frame to shield away defenders on the slant and then dragged defenders for extra yards after the catch. I think Montgomery is going to have a huge season and become a top WR in the conference this year.

I wouldn't throw a pass between 5-10 yards ever... All routes would be screens or beyond 10 yards every single time.
I would run the ball like my life depended on it between the tackles. I would boot leg, play action, and get rid of the stupid looking to the sideline for a play or audible. annoying as F.

Forgive me if I'm remembering things wrong (been trying to forget last season...), but weren't there times where the 5-10 yard pass was all we had?

If it was one of the few things that kinda worked, why get rid of it?

Don't go from the shotgun on every snap. Especially on 3rd and 1. And, obviously not on 4th and 1 either(would like to see us go for it any time we are at the 50 or better.)

More power blocking, with a full back specifically. More possession football with our offense. Can still run quicker pace, and run it down their throats.
