Blue Grass IA-Jensen Beach FL
From 1968.

Shout-out to @MeanDean for exposure … not sure if this was posted in OTN or separate music-related CF thread.

That's from a multi-disc collection I happened to pick up in 2023. I would probably not have purchased it but for the facts that it was used and decently priced, and had about a dozen semi-obscure songs I had/knew and liked. So many times those purchases turn out to be "meh." This one was a gem.

My favorite from the collection follows - which I've posted a couple times already on OTN threads. Has a bit of a "Whiter Shade Of Pale" feel. But has that "Man living his life of quiet desperation" theme that I'm sort of a sucker for.

New genre of 24. Ai generated Motown (and other older genres) music with dirty lyrics written by humans. They are hilarious because obviously this kind of filth would have never been allowed on the radio back then let alone now.

Recently checked out this guy because he’s coming to Val Air and wasn’t familiar with his stuff.

Way late on this but, you know, Christmas...Anyway, my favorite new to me band this is is The Greeting Committee, from Kansas City. They blew the roof off The Midland at their 10 year anniversary show this summer. Fantastic live compared to their tamer sound on their albums. I highly recommend!

My kid introduced me to Laufey. This one is essentially 1960s bossanova written and performed by a young Icelandic woman in 2024:
