This week, we are doing a topic I've considered for a while, and also suggested to us by @ISU3PtLand. It’s similar to an OTN from the past, Sittin' in the Balcony, in which we focused on theme songs from movies. For this topic, we are looking for random songs that you associate with a specific film. Along with songs clips, include the movie title. If you can find a clip of it from said movie, please post that as well.

“On That Note” is presented weekly by @MeanDean, @cyclones500 and myself.

This is probably the one that best fits the theme for me. Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, by the Platters, from American Graffiti.

Right at about the 2:05 mark in this clip, where Cindy Williams starts weeping (and the song volume is boosted slightly.) Every time I hear the song anywhere - when it gets to that part of the song I think of that moment in the movie.

Two interesting asides:
1. This happened to have been my mother's favorite song.
2. I did not realize it for a long time, but the dance is announced as a "Snowball." What is supposed to happen is the lead off couple starts, then breaks and each of the two people dances with another partner. Then those four break and dance with different partners, all while the song plays. Etc. until everyone is dancing. Of course Steve and Laurie are so engrossed in their fight/reminisce that they neglect to break.

Behind you
My parents had an interesting parenting method of sitting us kids down, individually, and watching movies as a way to teach us life lessons. Sometimes I knew what the lesson was, like when dad had me watch 'Escape from Alcatraz' with him, which to me meant keep your nose clean or you'll end up in prison. Other times I didn't, like when mom sat me down and we watched 'The Goodbye Girl' together. But the song for the movie has always stayed with me.
