Friday night is at home vs Oklahoma. They beat us last year in Oklahoma 21-16.
*Match of the night* will be Dom Demas vs Parker at 141.

Cyclones should take 7 or 8 of the 10 matches, with 141, 149, 157, 165, 174 and 197 being good ones. They have some average guys up and down the line-up and could sneak a match or 2 from us.

Coleman & Mantanano (sp) have had some good battles in the past

Never know what you will get from Jefferies
Davion and Degen went 1-1 I believe last year. He is unpredictable.
Mantanona is a perfect test for Coleman right now. Can't wait to see that match and see just how much Coleman has improved.

I really liked the Rouselli hire and hope he can get them back to a top 10 program. The Big XII needs more competitive teams and more automatic qualifier spots.

For every team that gets better, one has to get worse.
Not sure Oklahoma is going to get there. I think SDSU might take a step back also.

Looks like Iowa State and Wisconsin are going to improve.

Did I see that SDSU just got rolled by Fresno State? Fresno won 9 of 10 matches.

You peaked my curiosity so had to look it up:

Winning nine of 10 matches, including five by bonus points and three via falls, the Bulldog Wrestling team downed Big 12 foe South Dakota State, 38-3 on Sunday afternoon at the Save Mart Center

Anyways looking forward to Oklahoma. Should be a fun time. Heading down early take the wife out for supper and head to the dual. Think there will be another 3 couples tagging along as well.

Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Iowa State, UNI, Wyoming, Fresno State should all be top 25 teams year in and year out with West Virginia, SDSU and NDSU having up and down years.

We’re one of only three teams in Intermat’s top 25. A lot of these schools are not going to be able to sustain success, but would be nice if we could have at least 4 staples in the rankings (ISU, OU, OSU, and UNI) and 1 or 2 other teams with an up and coming coach every year. It’s been OK for the last couple of years, but we’d ideally find some good competition in our conference schedule as we continue to rise.

I agree that we should beat OU and that we are trending very well. But our tournament strength still trails our dual strength. And we have been humbled in recent Big 12 Tournaments-getting 6th in 2016 and 7th last year(with no finalists). I would love to rocket up the leaderboard this year, but it may take some time to climb to the top. I think we will get there, but as fans we still need to manage expectations a bit in 2019.

If we can avoid getting seated on the same side of the bracket as Ok State, we greatly improve our chance at having a finalist.

Will all #1 seeds be OSU and UNI?
125 - Piccinni
133 - Fix
141 - Alber/Brock, maybe Demas (Ok)
149 - Gfeller/Thomsen
157 - ?????
165 - Rogers/Steiert, maybe Ashworth (Wy)
174 - Smith/Lugan
184 - Foster/Smith
197 - Miklus/Geer
Hwt - White/

That is a bit of shock but Fresno also tromped Utah Valley (26-10) this past week. SDSU and Utah Valley have both been ranked this year. Gives more perspective on the Cyclone win over Fresno State.

Anything less than 3rd at Big 12's will be a huge disappointment to me. I think we can get 2nd behind OSU depending on how seeding goes and if we stay healthy. Lot to be excited about for sure.

I agree that third is the expectation and something that we can attain. This tournament illustrates how tough the competition is in this conference. There are still over six weeks to go and a lot could change, but getting a finalist in addition to Willie will likely require someone to perform above chalk—which is something this team can obviously do. Interestingly, given the competition, think Gremmel may have as good of a chance as anyone. All of this said, I still see a lot of thirds and fourths. BUT—I still think we qualify at least eight for nationals. And it is there where I believe we will have some pleasant surprises

I'll be there with my 3 yr old and old man. He got two tickets as a season FB holder. He sent me a pic of them but they didn't make any sense to me wear there where. I assumed general admin but they say row 2 in GA51 or something. What is GA51?

I think Degen can beat those guys at 49, and really interested to see where Parker matches up. Brock has not been himself this year.

WrestleStat has it 22-9 for the Cyclones, with a major for Willie at 197, and wins for Oklahoma at 149, 157, and 165. I don't put too much stock into WS but it is always fun to look at.
