I'm excited to see what Hardy can do with the Bane character since he was amazing playing a similar role in Bronson. He showed some serious Ledger-esque range, which convinced me there wasn't an actor out there more suited to play Bane.

i'm excited for the plot. Nolan's first 2 movies were fantastic and he keeps everything so secretive.

I'm really curious for how Joseph Gordon-Levitt's (JGL) character fits in. Nolan has said there will not be a Robin in this film but there were other "sidekick" characters in the comics (Azreal, Nightwing)

Nolan is an excellent director and has yet to direct a crappy movie, well imo at least.

The great thing about these movies is that you don't have to be a serious comic book geek to get into them. However, there's enough of that to keep that group appeased.

It looks great but I just don't get Anne Hatheway being in this movie. At all. She's terrible and is in pretty much every awful disney princess movie my daughter loves. She shouldn't be in this movie...I truly hope I eat crow but I doubt I do.

The Prestige was amazing. 50 points for David Bowie alone.

Agreed...Bowie was much better than expected. He brought just the right amount of creepy/eccentric to the Tesla character.

Speaking of Nolan, he's got to have one of the highest hits-to-misses ratios among Hollywood directors these days.

Here's his IMDB page... Christopher Nolan - IMDb

I'd say he's batting .600 at the very worst. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt with the Dark Knight Rises.

Director (10 titles)
2012The Dark Knight Rises
2010Inception
2008The Dark Knight
2006The Prestige
2005Batman Begins
2003Cinema16: British Short Films (video short) (segment "Doodlebug" / 1997)
2002Insomnia
2000Memento
1998Following
1997Doodlebug (short) (as Chris Nolan)

Any comparable directors in terms of quality of work? Maybe Kubrick? Scorcese? Fincher?

I'm looking forward to how Bane is as the villian. The Joker wanted to dangle Gotham City from his puppet strings and turn the city on itself. Bane just seems hell bent on destroying Gotham.

Prestige and Insomnia were meh. Batman Begins and Inception were good but drug on too long. He knocked it out of the park with Dark Knight and Memento.

You can't put him on the same level as Kubrick or Scorcese yet.

Um, no. The Prestige is one of my favorites. I went into it not knowing anything about what it was and walked out amazed. Every time I watch it I pick up on something new. Plus my girlfriend is in it.
