Omaha was our biggest get, it's not close. Turned out a bust at Iowa State.

Milan was always a more college ready contributor. I don't think anyone saw Omaha struggling as much as he did though.

Regardless, excited about Batemon. We project to have more of a need for an immediate freshmen contributor or two in 2025-2026. He's a stud.

Batemon has been the priority of the staff for almost 2 years to fill a major need, shooting.
We shouldn't expect any freshman to start immediately but his ability to be a microwave scorer in a 6-7th man role (think McGee) right away is a legit possibility.

Not ISU recruit, but 18 year old Florida commit has grown to 7'9"

I'm 6'2" and it's always weird when I come across someone that towers over me. I've been near a 7 footer once or twice in my life, but 7'9" would be a really odd juxtaposition.

I understand the advantages in basketball, but, aside from that, I would have to think he faces constant challenges. Most door frames are what, 6'7"? Imagine being over a foot taller that nearly every door you walk through. Or trying to find a car that you can drive, clothes to fit, a plane seat that you can fit in, etc. Hell, a ceiling fan is your worst enemy at that height.

I think he’s a bench rotation piece at minimum but I’m bullish on Batemon. Great job by our staff here. Identified early and invested a lot of time in this recruitment. There’s a reason Kentucky and others were trying to get in late.

So are we done for 2025? Haven't heard much on Amare Bynum or Kai Rogers in quite awhile. Perhaps we throw our hat in the ring for a high-profile forward late in the process?

Curious if TJ and staff prefer to hit the portal for big men since HS big men take awhile to develop most of the time

Pretty sure Xavier Mitchel took the SF/PF spot and ISU has cooled on Bynum. they are still in contact but unless there is something unforeseen I don't think they have a spot for him.
ISU is still recruiting Rogers but with Kai transferring to the OTE thus leaving Wisconsin we'll see how that plays out. ISU is currently one of his top choices.
Already having 3 HS commits I don't know if ISU will want to add a 4th when ISU will have older transfer options if fill an immediate need.

I though Kai decided to go pro

Overtime Elite has an option where you don’t have to take the money and keep eligibility. Not sure if it’s been made public if he’s going to go that route or not

Ahh I didn’t know they had that option. Good to know. Wondering with the success rate of big men panning out if we have switched our attention more toward transfer big men who have proven themselves a little more

I was. 6’8” ( old people shrink).
7’9” would be easier on doorways than 6’8”.
You can clearly see what you are going to hit- at 6’8” it too close to call. I think a standard doorway is 80”.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the long-term futures of Rock and Dishon Jackson. Rock will still be a developmental piece this year. Dishon has another year available if he chooses. Joshua Jefferson another key front court piece with an additional year beyond this upcoming season.

We have some multiyear pieces in the front court but it's tough to project that far out in today's era. Everything happens year to year.

Seems like we'll be pretty set in the backcourt. Really just need a big and the portal seems like the easier option for them.

Obviously extremely excited for this upcoming season and hate to always be looking ahead, HOWEVER, that 2025/2026 team is going to be extremely experienced/old with the opportunity to be extremely good as well.

Momcilovic - Junior
Lipsey, Watson, Jefferson - Senior
Heise, Jackson - 5th year Senior

Add in a likely upperclassmen transfer or two.

We will see if Rock and Indrusaitis break the rotation this year and a promising 2025 freshman class coming in as well.

Milan is already projected as a late first rounder in next year's draft, and I think he will exceed expectations this year with his drive to improve after the Illinois game. In short, I don't expect him back, which is great for this season.

Just checked other recruiting services to see if we are recruiting another high school big or not. Since Rogers has announced he is going to Overtime Elite, his profile changed on On3. it was between us and Wisconsin, but now all of a sudden OU is the leader! I don't believe they were even in the picture before.
