The dude is shooting 100% from 3-land! What more on offense could you want?He is 100% there on defense. Just needs to work on things that make him a legitimate threat to score.

Yes, hence my question. There is currently one open roster slot for next year.
Bump. His coach just got fired. 6’11” sophomore averages 6.4 pts 6.7 reb and 2.5 blocks in 23.5 minutes. No NIL. From NigeriaMaybe Felix Okpara at TheOSU wants to play on a winning team in a better conference next year? Looks to me like he would be a fit at ISU.
I think those two will be back. With 2 guards coming in my guess it would be a backcourt guy.Yes, hence my question.
Does Curtis jones get a Covid year?I'm curious what kinds of evolutions we'll see in play style (especially offensively) moving forward. If Rock develops, he can be by far the most offensively skilled post that TJ has had at Iowa State. If MM doesn't leave early, he'll be capable of being the centerpiece of the offense in a way that he couldn't be this year because of the freshman adjustment. With the entire backcourt potentially returning next season and getting added to with Indrusaitis and Pierce (plus Hamilton off redshirt), I think it's possible that MM plays more at the 4 next season. If that results in an MM/Rock frontcourt sometimes, that probably means some 5-out offense which can open up huge driving lanes for Lipsey and Gilbert.
Thinking about that also just makes me think about how easy of a recruiting pitch it should be to an athletic post who can protect the paint and clean up the glass. Obviously that pitch has to compete with other schools' NIL dollars, but I'm confident that Otz and company can find a great fit.
Didn't miss anything. Not ready. Not playing behind our current players. No redshirt. No one knows about next year.Did I miss something on Omaha Bilew? Is he redshirting? I’m assuming he’s just not ready yet, maybe defensively? I always watch him on the sidelines and he appears happy for everyone I’m just hoping he knows next year his role will be huge for us
Yes he has another year. BRE, Ward and King are the only guys out of eligibility.Didn't miss anything. Not ready. Not playing behind our current players. No redshirt. No one knows about next year.
Good that’ll be huge for next yearYes he has another year. BRE, Ward and King are the only guys out of eligibility.
Thank you, I didn’t think I missed anything but also wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anythingDidn't miss anything. Not ready. Not playing behind our current players. No redshirt. No one knows about next year.
I hope you're right, but at this point seems like just wishful thinking. A guy who has been a net negative player offensively for most of 2 seasons is just going to suddenly figure it out?I think everyone is underestimating how big of a jump Watson is going to take. He's going to play a major role next season.
The caveat with all this is for the last two off-seasons people said these things about Robert Jones. That he didn't have an offensive game, couldn't find minutes on this team, couldn't compete at this level. And yet, every year his minutes went up and he's now a guy who could make a rotation anywhere.I know speculation on potential departures is a bit bunk around here, but for the sake of conversation, I could see as many as three scholarships come open at the conclusion of our season.
Paveletzke: Has come around a bit lately which you love to see, but he is a Sophomore that will have a hard time supplanting any of the other 3 guards in front of him for playing time, regardless of his improvement. He is in the same class as Tamin, one season behind Gilbert, and would have another year of sitting behind C. Jones assuming he takes a covid year. So at best, he sticks around and hopes he can start as a senior in 2025-26, yet even then, a starting backcourt of both he and Tamin is unattractive due to them both being on the small side. Take into additional consideration that waiting in the wings will be two talented freshman guards in Hamilton and Indrusaitus. If the end goal for Pav is to be a 6th man on a good Big 12 team perhaps he sticks it out. Otherwise I feel like he is currently auditioning for playing time at another school with our remaining games this season.
Watson: With Watson, I kind of just feel like time is running out. He seems like he has a P6 motor and athletic ability, but the skill level just isn't there. Depending what his career aspirations are, I could see him looking to go down a level or two where he can compete a little bit better offensively and become a small ball 4, unless he's happy playing out his days as a Cyclone averaging 10 minutes a game.
Biliew: I hope he sticks around, in fact I'd love all of these guys to, but the reality of the current landscape of the sport tells me I should know better by now. Omaha will have a big decision to make in the offseason. Seems like any conversation about him entering the draft and being a one and done no matter what have cooled substantially since the start of the season, so now it begs the question that if he does come back to college for another year, will it be at Iowa State? Or does he harbor some resentment for TJ and the program for putting a very large damper on and/or destroying his desired career path?
Honorable mention for Curtis Jones: he seems least likely of this group to leave, and has a covid year to use. To me he is back unless he wants to try and become a starter somewhere (although he could start for us next season IMO) or just wants to move on with his life after basketball.
I'm also extremely curious what Billiew will choose to do.I know speculation on potential departures is a bit bunk around here, but for the sake of conversation, I could see as many as three scholarships come open at the conclusion of our season.

Seems much more likely to figure it out offensively than Big Rob's chances a year ago and that has turned out well. Watson hasn't had much of a chance to play consistently.I hope you're right, but at this point seems like just wishful thinking. With Jones I think his role is and always has been clear. He's a big.The caveat with all this is for the last two off-seasons people said these things about Robert Jones. Not saying any or all of these players follow his career arc.
I hope he does stick around and figures it out. With Tre's eligibility running out, there will be competition for those minutes. Could be Watson, Biliew or Fish, OR a portal add.Seems much more likely to figure it out offensively than Big Rob's chances a year ago and that has turned out well. One name to keep an eye on is Sy Chatman from Buffalo. Should have another year of eligibility due to injuries annd COVID and originally from Minneapolis area. Was high school and college teammates with Curtis Jones and would be a great addition to the front court.
