is anyone else as excited as i am for this movie?

my kids and i play minecraft a lot and can't wait. every trailer looks better and better. even if it is just like the mario movie and an endless parade of easter eggs and nostalgia, it will be great.

coming to theaters April 4th.

I'm excited that you're excited, feels like they missed the major Minecraft boom though? Maybe I'm just not in tune with the Minecraft crowd though.

It is as popular now as it ever was IMO. Tons of lore and mechanics have further developed over the last decade plus.

Surprised this thread hasn’t been resurrected yet?

This was a solid movie for Minecraft fans. Even for myself, who hasn’t played the game for several years. I was worried by the trailers because it didn’t seem to get the tone of Minecraft right, but it’s obvious the movie was made by people who love the game.

The story sucked. But I expected that. I wonder if original drafts focused on the brother/sister storyline, and it wasn’t testing well so they shoehorned Jason Momoa and Danielle Brooks into the film to make it more like Jumanji.

Jared Hess’s influence could be felt throughout the film. The humor had more of a dry wit that I wasn’t expecting. There were a few laugh out loud moments that only the adults in the theater chuckled along with.

With how well it’s doing at the box office, I have to imagine that a sequel is probably on the way. Maybe they’ll feature the Deep Dark, I’d love to see the Warden in movie form.

Yeah the plot sucked, but it was a fun movie. My kids loved it. They are still singing the lava chicken song and going on about chicken jockeys.

My favorite part was the nod to Technoblade.

My family loved it. Even the wife thought it was entertaining.

I am sure there will be a sequel and it could feature an entirely different cast and characters and be completely on brand. There is the end, ender dragon, warden, and countless other possibilities for story lines .

I’ve been yelling ‘sneak attack’ and then poking my wife and kids for a week. I think they are tired of it but I’m not tired yet.

I will literally only entertain watching this because of Jack Black. Will I be disappointed?

He is very Jack Blacky in this movie and even gets several moments to flaunt his vocal cords. You might enjoy it on that merit. I honestly thought this movie would bomb because Jack Black as Steve was a total mismatch. But his enthusiasm is infectious and he and Momoa stole the show for the entire runtime.

I took my family to see this movie and even my wife and I liked it. I was a bit nervous I would be bored out of my mind because I know almost nothing about the game but it’s very funny and I’m glad I went. And of course the kids all loved it.

Spent 900+, if not thousands of hours playing the game with the kids. We were gifted gift cards and went. Unfortunately no matter how much I like a movie, I fall asleep 5 mins in now. When I woke up, the rest of the family loved it.

Where they love the governor
Oh, if they really said it, they would say La-la-la-lava ch-ch-ch-chicken.

At least that's what Dennis, the doggie, doggie, doggie, doggie, partner-in-crime says.

BTW:

I did have to laugh when my son's baseball team was in a weather delay. One dugout did the La la la lava chi chi chi chicken part and the other dugout responded.
