Good pitching and speed?Still not quite sure how the Brewers have the record that they do. Credit to them I guess but I think there has been some over-achievement there.
Guess so. Sure doesn't appear to be their line-up. They are on pace for 1 run in 2 games versus the Cubs vaunted pitching.Good pitching and speed?
playoffs 5 of the last 6 years with one of the smallest payrolls in MLB. this isn't new.Still not quite sure how the Brewers have the record that they do. Credit to them I guess but I think there has been some over-achievement there.
For some reason I thought Wisdom was on the IL right now since he hasn't been used in awhile, lol! I have not hidden my thoughts here on how much I loathe him so can't say I haven't missed him the past 10 days. Not that I am a big fan of Mastrouni either but he is far superior defensively and at least is not an all or nothing swing for the fence AB when he's in the lineup. Really hope neither is on the roster next season else its just more of the same old status quo again. If my research is correct, Bote and Wisdom have a combined 7 ABs since July 13. Hoyer has built a roster essentially playing 2 short for an extended period. You could argue Madrigal is hurt, but I'm not sure that helps the argument much.
Edit now 7 after Bote PH.
Now that Tauchman is healthy I wonder if he is a trade candidate too. Probably not getting much for him but if they do any kind of sell off he's a guy that is blocking some talent in Iowa right now. Wisdom, Mastrobouni, and Bote aren't guys playoff contenders will likely be interested but I would trade any of them at this point for whatever you can get even if it is a bucket of batting practice balls. The FO wants to shed some money, Wisdom is on the books (would only shed the pro-rated ammounts for the rest of the season) for $2.725 mil, Tauchman $1.95, no one is taking on all of Bote's $5.51 and the obvious Smyly at $10.5 that Cubs may have to eat a little of to get anything of reasonable return for there is some places to shave a little for guys that likely will not be back next season so doesn't really matter if you get next to nothing in return you clear some roster spots and a little payroll. Neris would be nice to trade but that player option is likely to kick in so Cubs may have to send some money if they want something in return.Wisdom, Mastrobuoni, Bote, and Tauchman are no doubt great clubhouse guys but they can’t be depth pieces on a playoff caliber team. I think part of the off-season is making better decisions on depth pieces. In my mind, I think Morel has to be a DH or super-utility role.
I don’t think Coby Mayo is as far fetched of an option for the Cubs. Taillon, BJ Murray, and some cash could get it done.
Selling Taillon and Hendricks expiring contract makes Burnes very attainable. Now that Tauchman is healthy I wonder if he is a trade candidate too. Taillon is the most desirable trade chip to shed both money and get something in return but I also feels he's worth keeping for 2025 if there isn't a good return to be had for him. I'm not against trading Morel either but don't want to just give him away and watch him do what Schwarber did and turn into the player we had hoped he was. Just like Happ before the extension, Morel has had higher trade value and they chose not to move on it when they could have cashed in. This front office has done a poor job over the years over-valuing our players which has led to stagnant rosters that have holes they can't fill because they didn't make the moves soon enough to address them.
going to agree with you on that. Let him hit as he has been batting. Wisdom has not seen the plate so he is out of practice although if he had got a little more of the pitch then we would say what a good move.Head scratcher to bench Busch for Wisdom. There is not a stat out there that says Wisdom is a better hitter vs lefties than Busch. Real ******* tired of the computer ******** telling our managers what boneheaded moves to make.
Cubs have speed .. they just all bat .200 and are never on base.Good pitching and speed?
And another few games of pathetic offense. The pitching hasn't been too bad but the offense still can't score a run to save their lives. And another series loss.
