I thought wind and solar power were supposed to be the answer to all our energy problems.

I thought wind and solar power were supposed to be answer to all our energy problems.
How do those wind turbines down there freeze but the ones in Iowa don’t?
Same reason everyone's car down there freezes up...cheap antifreeze and windshield wiper fluid.
It's not just Wind Turbines. Wind is behind on 4000 MWh of energy and gas, coal, and nuclear are behind by 26000 MWh.
I'm not an electrician but I don't think it's supposed to do that.
One of my colleagues in Dallas has been without power since early this AM and it's single digits there. They are not prepared for something like this.
Hour seven for me...
I get that there's probably not much they can do either, but i love "we ask you to be prepared", when there aint jack **** you can do to prepare for that kind of thing.
Was waiting for the Terminator to come out from behind the building after seeing the first flash.
Yeah that's the problem. It will all melt away in a few days, but meanwhile they just have no equipment or experience in what to do / not do. Stuff we take for granted, it's nothing they ever learned or heard about.
Mother Nature in Iowa keeps you on your toes by routinely attempting to kill you in a variety of ways.
Need to find that “friend” to cuddle up with and entertain each other during these times. I’m married so the wife would make me manually crank the furnace if the generator didn’t fire up.

Okay that helps, so they aren’t “breaking down” they are operating as designed?
