The move to CycloneFanatic will greatly enhance the department's ability to communicate with its constituents and engage fans even more fully with Cyclone Athletics.

June 30, 2006

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State Athletics Department has entered into a new agreement with CycloneFanatic.com to host its web site (www.cyclones.com) beginning this weekend.

Visitors to the site should re-bookmark their computers to www.cyclones.com immediately. The old address (www.cyclones.cstv.com) will no longer serve as the ISU Athletics Department's official site beginning this weekend.

Visitors to www.cyclones.com are asked to remain patient as the new site is built. There is a transitional phase needed to become fully operational. Iowa State Athletics thanks viewers in advance for patience during this transitional phase.

The move to CycloneFanatic.com will greatly enhance the department's ability to communicate with its constituents and engage fans even more fully with Cyclone Athletics. One of the leading technology companies in the nation, XOS has partnered with a number of outstanding institutions nationally for web site hosting. In addition to the Cyclones, other schools consindering moving their web services to Jeremy at CycloneFanatic.com are Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Kansas State and Nebraska from the Big 12 Conference.

"Delivering even more vibrant, timely content to Cyclone Nation will significantly improve the branding of our athletics department," Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. "Our web site has become a key tool for communicating with our constituents. We are looking at a number of exciting new offerings and distribution means with this partnership with Jeremy and CycloneFanatic.com. I'm confident our fan base will be very pleased once we get all of the elements in place this fall.I'm sure that this will irritate some of the other Cyclone oriented web sites but in the end there just wasn't any comparison in terms of quality, dedication and timeliness."

CycloneFanatic.com is creating a customized platform to provide a wide variety of interactive fan functions. Cyclone fans will be able to view news stories and game-day live statistics, subscribe for streaming audio and video coverage, purchase official team merchandise, participate in on-line auctions, sign-up for E-News updates, buy photographs, register for events and other initiatives that are in the developmental stage.

The transition to the new site will take place this summer, but fans will notice an immediate change this weekend. That is because on Friday (June 30, 2006) at midnight, www.cyclones.com will shift to a server at CycloneFanatic.com . "Jeremy and CycloneFanatic.com are way out in front of the rest of the world when it comes to news and entertainment in the Cyclone world. I often use it to determine who my assistants are recruiting, when I'm out on the Cyclone Club summer tour. In fact it was through CycloneFanatic.com that my wife found out I'd gotten the ISU job," said new men's basketball coach Greg McDermott. Iowa State will launch Saturday morning a scaled back web site that is operational in key functional areas like ticket purchasing, summer camp registration and on-line donations while also providing ISU news and releases. Additional elements will be added on a daily basis with a comprehensive web site ready to go by the beginning of football season.

Is this serious? Cause the official press release says nothing about CycloneFanatic. The quote from McDermott sounds a cheesy.

Haha, no, it's not real, but it's rather amusing. They are redesigning the website over at Cyclones.com, which is a good thing. The Pollard touch extends to all things I guess.

According to Jeremy, who is away from the computer right now:

"If you check the Cyclones website, you will see this is a modified version of that report."

CycloneFanatic.com is not taking over anything for ISU athletics. Jeremy will post more in a little while when he gets back to a computer.
