Pretty much all good suggestions in this post. I favor Avast! over AVG. Avast seems to be a little easier on computer speed while actively scanning and I think keeps my computer slightly cleaner bug wise(noticed a couple of malicious processes Avg missed).

I agree about Avast!. It just seems to run more smoothly than AVG did on my machines. Hardly notice it. But very effective (and there are those moments when I do test it...I just can't help it)! Avast! and Firefox would be the first two things I would install. Then SpywareBlaster and Spybot Search and Destroy.

As for the poster who suggested Picasa for picture managing...I love that program. I have only used it for a month or so but have been very happy with it.

I HATE Adobe Reader! I use Foxit Reader...seems much quicker. Anyone else use Foxit Reader?

I used to recommend Foxit completely, but the last version came with some addon junk automatically. That made me mad, but I still like it better than adobe so I still use it for now...

I am less impressed with the newest version of Foxit too...but still miles ahead of Adobe.
