Will times for the second round not be announced until after the first round games are played?

Espn talking head just picked Toledo over ISU as an upset. She did point out A Joens, but Toledo has won a bunch in a row...blah blah....

And she didn’t realize we beat 2 top 25 teams in a row?

I believe her main point was that we were too small in the frontcourt and would have to help out and Toledo had too good of shooters to do that. Hope we can squelch that thought.

I live in Toledo and have followed the women’s team. Their schedule wasn’t “weak” persay, they went to Michigan and won and they hosted Duke. They are playing well but the narrative on their guards being big isn’t accurate. Lockett is the MAC player of the year. They have some size that can shoot (Garcia, she comes off the bench). They can shoot the 3 but I think overall if we play like we did in our tourney, we should win.

Weak in the context of what ISU faced. Michigan and Duke are def quality opponents, but the results don’t strike fear into most. Could Toledo win? Sure. If the ISU shows up that lost to KSU and KU anyone can beat them. The team we saw at the tournament? No way.

OK, Toledo may not have a "weak" schedule, but it certainly has a "weaker" schedule.

Michigan (1) and Duke (1) <<<< Texas (3), Baylor (3), Oklahoma (3), Oklahoma State (2), etc., UNC, (E)IU

In other words, we had a tougher schedule last week than they had all year!

Of course we played a harder schedule, Toledo is a mid major, as I said….If we play how we played last wknd we should win. Nobody should overlook their opponent that is on a 16 game win streak, no matter who their competition was. I was just giving a small scouting of who Toledo has and what to look for. Trust me…I’m a Cyclone alum! I know who I’m pulling for, even if my friends and family give me heat!

Top mid-majors can play it two ways, win a lot with a mid-major schedule or try and impress the committee for a better seed by scheduling a tough non-conference. If you schedule too tough and lose the committee will diss you. If you don't and win 28 or so games the committee might still diss you. I'd probably do just what Toledo did, sort of in-between. Give the kids some tougher games so they know what to expect in March but not so many that you get a bunch of loses.

Kim Mulkey at LSU got caught leaning the wrong way this year. Schedule was set before she scored a strong portal class so was weak for the team she ended up with. I don't diss LSU as much as some for this. It's not their fault the SEC was down. Many moons ago Johnny Orr set up a crazy NC schedule to highlight what he thought was going to be a great team. Didn't pan out with a bunch of player departures and the schedule killed the team he fielded that season.

Toledo has won 25+ a bunch of times. After another deep run last season in the WNIT, Cullop beefed up the schedule to possibly grab an at large bid. CMU and Buffalo were in the sweet 16 in 2018. In WBB the MAC is around 9th nationally as a conference, unlike the men. So shooting for an at large isn't unheard of.

Toledo scheduled perennial tourney team Dayton, and Cincy who were WAY down this year. Also played a 9 seed in Missouri State from a season ago. They ended up about 120th in NET. Toledo played UT Arlington (SBC Champ last season). Also P6 Duke, Penn State (phantom call sent PSU to the line to hit free throws under 2 seconds for the win) and Michigan. Toledo scheduled tough but teams didn't fall into place for a good SOS. Bowling Green and Ball State were top 75 NET teams in league. Toledo went 4-1 vs. that group.
