I have a friend there that started at that position but has moved up quickly. There seems to be lots of room for advancement at Nationwide for those that excel.

modest salary , but good way to get your foot in the door with a good company. Also, IMO best location of any office building to work at in downtown DM.

FYI... not all positions are in-bound call center positions. There are more than a few that are processing-type positions. Here's a brief of some of the positions available:

Customer Service Representative: You will take incoming calls from agents and/or policy holders (from approx 26 states) regarding billing, policy coverages, policy changes, proof of insurance, mortgagee/lienholder clause changes, and provide counseling on current coverages and possibly suggest other coverages. Nationwide will pay for your licensing for the State of Iowa and is contingent upon passing the state exam. Base salary of approx $28k.

Sales Representative: You will take incoming calls from potential customers who are in need of insurance for their auto and/or property, or current customers who have moved to a new state and/or are in need of a rewritten policy. You will follow up on quotes and cross-sell when possible to bring in more business. Hiring is contingent upon your passing the State of Iowa exam along with other examsBase salary of $30k plus commission.

Processing (commercial/agribusiness/farm): I don't know too much about these positions other than they are not in-bound call center positions and they pay is approx $27-29k.

I will say this, Nationwide REALLY wants you to succeed. They provide excellent training and support. There is A LOT to insurance, more than anyone who is outside the industry probably realizes. The benefits are excellent, the vacation is excellent, the opportunities are there for advancement.

Not sure how I know this stuff. Lets just say I have a guy on the inside who knows things.

Great job to learn insurance. My wife and I both worked there, if you are good you can get out in a year and move up in the company. I love the company, no complaints at all, great for college grads, or anyone needing a job who can type and talk at the same time!

THIS. I have seen kids out of college grow so much within their first year of hiring. It really brings out your potential because insurance requires you to THINK and be accountable/responsible because each decision has the potential to critically affect the policy holder if/when a loss occurs.

Ive worked for Allied/Nationwide for nearly 13 years as a field rep then manager now field rep and soon to be manager again. Accountibility is high, audits and more audits will determine your worth. All calls are monitored comming in, going out, how long were you on the phone what did you do. Insurance companies know everything that especially the call center employees are doing. This is a great job for someone that wants to work their way into the company. I think it should be known you will work your way into it. At the end if your hired into another area, you have accomplished something!!

Go to the careers link at the bottom. Log in as a "guest" and search. You can post a resume and apply. A recruiter will contact you if you fit the bill.

It worked for me meaning it'll probably work for you.

Seriously I have sent about 25 e-mails for people on here trying to get jobs. I hope you guys do well. Go into the interview with confidence but not cockyness and you will do great.
I know it's just service but it's a great start at a big company in Des Moines. Good luck you all. We need to start a jobs forum on this site. It's nice to be able to hook fellow Clones up.
