Man…Bubba had it but I can’t help but think him picking the outside line ruined it all. Granted, it seemed like the Penske cars were going to go into whatever lane he wasn’t in.

I married a NASCAR fan 46 years ago and have grown to appreciate the skill & courage of the slightly crazy individuals who get behind the wheel. We’ve been to the Daytona 500 in the past and were on the track a few weeks ago. Daytona seems to always come down to who is lucky enough to be in position to drive thru the chaotic wreck at the finish line. Just like the PGA tour, they are all capable of winning, Byron was very fortunate that he slipped in a win yesterday.

When Bell wrecked Byron was able to move down about 2 feet and narrowly missed getting hit by Bell as he came down off the wall and ended up hitting Preece. Then on that last lap he was just back enough that he just missed that last wreck.
He had a good car, not the best but some luck and some nice driving got him the win.

Edited because it was the Bell wreck that got Preece airborne.

Talladega didn't end like I expected. No one made a move in the last few laps
I think that its the G7 car just not made for passing, too much downforce and not enough horsepower. I think Denny gives a ton of good insight on this on his podcast, love him or hate him, I agree with him based on how these superspeedway races have been going. I am sure he will have some words about it, including the Chastain move.

Logano and Preece both failed post race inspection. Logano's spoiler had an extra shim in it. Might be why his car was so good. At those speeds just a hair difference can have a big effect

Preece's car had shims ("unintentional adjustment during pre-race inspection to correct a spoiler angle issue"). Logano's car had 1of 18 spoiler bolts loose.

At the end of the race, it seemed like 30+ cars were all going the same speed for 10 laps. About the only thing that was fun to watch was whether #5 could push far enough ahead to pop out in front of the high line. Alas, it never happened.
