One more vote for the plane will fly. I won't be able to watch it in 10 minutes though, I have to go play volleyball. I'll be watching it on the DVR.

I vote it will not fly, as long as they stick to the myth, meaning the plane's velocity relative to the ground remains zero.

I don't think the myth says the speed relative to the ground is to remain zero... But, lets reserve judgment until they describe it in the show.

No new info on the show yet, my vote is for plane does not fly if performed correctly.

Really? Maybe they're doing a different one. This is what I was referring to:

“Imagine a plane is sitting on a massive conveyor belt, as wide and as long as a runway. The conveyer belt is designed to exactly match the speed of the wheels, moving in the opposite direction. Can the plane take off?"

Please read the 40+ page thread we had on this, it will answer all your questions as to why it will fly.

Brianhos, I expect your full written explanation as to why you were wrong, due at 9:01pm tonight.
