Just so you guys know, almost all of the time-out promotions that are done (which are the first tv timeout of the second half) are done by Cyclone Alley. Since we have very limited resources, we can't really do things like give out prizes to anyone besides the contestants. We do rotate the promotions (I believe we have four) between the games, so you shouldn't see the same one very often. Also, we try to come up with a new one each year to spice things up (for instance this year we added the Dell laptop promotion that was at the UNI men's game). If you have any ideas for promotions (that don't require any real expensive equipment), I'll be more than willing to bring them up...

p.s. All of the rest of the things like Smile Cam and Gratias Construction free throw are run by the athletic department (we have no say in it)

What annoys me is that it's an applebee's shuffle, smile cam, basketball shuffle, cy's lockerroom commerical, etc...every single TV timeout. I came to watch a basketball game, not a show...and it takes away from the atmosphere imo when they do that stuff, especially the later the game gets...I wanted to puke when they played that dumb song and showed the smile cam while we were losing to UNI.

They never used to do this stuff back when "Hilton Magic" really was in it's prime. The game and shoot 5 for 5 (at halftime) was it, and Hilton truly rocked.

Did anyone notice that they didn't show the Cy's Lockerroom ad during the UNI game? Did they show it during Minnesota?

Yeah, I loved the 5 for 5 contest, especially some of the lame prizes. I remember one game quite a few years ago when the prize for making 3 baskets was 5 yards of concrete from Ames Redimix, I think. Anyway, after the contestant made 2 shots, our section started chanting, "Go for the concrete". Naturally, the excitement was too great for him and he missed, maybe on purpose.

The most annoying part about Hilton is that after we start getting on a run people cheer loud through the timeout.... but remain quiet when play starts back up.
