The Mountain West? Seriously? Will that many people really watch it?

This network already existed and it probably cost DirecTV next to nothing to pick it up. The conference is probably just happy with the publicity. DirecTV looks at it as just one more thing to tell customers about.

I'll watch it.

It may mean another game on national TV for ISU next year, as we play UNLV.

I will, I watch the big10 network now. Big12 football package just plain sucks!

No, it really really doesn't. I would wager it's better than anything except the Big 10's (or MAYBE the Pac-10, though the Pac-10 has mitigating circumstances in that they play their games way later than anyone else and it makes it easier to schedule coverage because there are fewer games to compete against). I bet it compares very favorably to the SEC's package.

Unfortunately ISU's coverage is spotty because we are more like Mississippi State in the SEC than LSU.

Agree. The two WORST teams in the Big 12 last year had 5 of their 8 conference games on TV.

[8 - KU/OU/UT; 7 - CU/MU/OSU/A&M; 6 - KSU/NU/TT; 5 - ISU/BU]

40 of the 48 total games (83%) were televised. Not bad for a league that doesn't have its own dedicated network.

[40 games = 80 spots: 41 South appearances, 39 North appearances]

Interesting breakdown, thanks for sharing.

And still no big12 channel! Come on big12, I would PAY extra for it.

I was looking at the link there for the iowa game. Since 3 other teams are slated for abc or epsn/2 from the big ten, does that pretty much assure it will be on the big 10 net?

I would love to see us reach some kind of semi-exclusive deal with Versus or Spike or something. Have two games a week on there plus coaches shows and a big XII recap show. Throw them some basketball, baseball, women's basketball games and really help fill there programming withought having the Big XII have to go out and start their own network...

I am more concerned about getting the conference games on TV. Normally we have most non-conference games at home anyway. You know Iowa is going to always be on. If we can start Thursdays and get that on tv that would be a plus.
There is normally 6 games on each week for the Big12 conf. If the networks got this we would always be on :)
ABC = 1
Fox = 2
Versus = 1
ESPN = 1
ESPN 2 = 1

Fox has enough affiliates to put every frickin team on in the world. I hope this year is better than last. Remember we also had Texas and OU on the schedule last year.
