Bret is listed as number 5. Interesting because I still don't think his feet are anywhere near as dangerous as his arm. Nice to have the recognition none the less.

I agree. Even though Bret has had his moments (running) and has 2 more years to become a dual threat, I wouldn't exactly call him one now. Has that QB draw ever worked?? Nonetheless, it's great to see him get some pub and let's all hope he lives up to the accolades!

In my opinion, the media labels any black quarterback as "dual threat". Not sure why this is. I wouldn't describe Bret as dual threat. He runs as well and as much as the next guy but I wouldn't say he is anything special in the open field.

I totally agree. I think it is semi-racial. Meyer is not a running QB. Neither was Seneca, but he was more of a threat than Bret Meyer. Although not quite as fast, I really think that Sage is a better runner than Bret.

I agree about Brett. I think they see a black Qb and autoomatically think runner which is not always the case. However I will diosagree with you the Senecca was a runner. They had to tame his arm since he was a wild thrower. Very elusive runner with Breakaway speed though.

I'm just playing this by memory here, but I think that in his Freshman year, Meyer had 700+ yds. on the ground. Thats pretty impressive for a QB who only played half the time. The difference was last year, he stayed in the pocket too long for the blocking that we had. i think the real difference is his freshman year, he had Stevie to block for him, creating more time to realize the pass wont work. We should see a lot more designed running plays this season, or atleast more variety in the desinged running plays, not just that draw.

But definately dont get me wrong, i love it that Bret knows he should pass first. And that will payoff bigtime for him this year.

Actually he ran for 331 his frosh year, and 123 last year. But that also has a lot of sacks accounted in it. So he really ran for more than that, but there were a lot of yards taken away. Last year Vince Young ran for over 1000, and had a lot of designed run plays.
We haven't run a whole lot of designed run plays for BM, which is similar to Drew Stanton at MSU. Meyer and Stanton have similar rushing numbers, and both were on the list.

Iowa as the most underrated team in the nation?!

COMEON![/b][/quote]

Good question. That's the biggest load of crap I've ever seen.

Iowa is better than people give them credit for? Last I saw, these "people" are putting them in the Top Ten in the country, yet they should really only be in the 15 - 25 range.

Good idea! Make the most overrated team in the country, even more overrated!

why is race brought into this? theres racial diviosons like this still because we divide it that way. theres been some great white scramblers-Steve Young hes running with no helmet, thats some classic football there. Theres also stuff like this with Todd Blythe. Not only is he a great wide reciever hes white. Where does it say in the book of football a wide out cant be white? Lets accept them for who they are.
