All Fanatics are invited to a special bike ride on the High Trestle Trail on Saturday, July 6th, starting at 8am at the shelter just east of the High Trestle Bridge.

We built the shelter in honor of my wife Judy who finished her battle with cancer four years ago. My son had the idea to have a bike ride that reflected her values. Judy was very health conscious in mind, body, and spirit. And she was an avid rider who drew lots of others into it. The High Trestle Bridge was one of her favorite spots.

Click on the link below for more details. It is a “community ride,” not a race and not a fundraiser. We just want people to enjoy a nice Saturday morning ride and maybe get to know someone better along the way. Healthy snacks (Judy-approved green smoothie muffins, energy bites, bananas) and water will be provided at the shelter and at our turn-around point in Slater (Grimm Park). Ride as short as 1.5 miles roundtrip (from the QF Lane parking lot west of Madrid) to 20 miles roundtrip (to Slater) or more if you go east of Slater or west of the bridge.

Also, if you want to learn more about Judy, here is a link to my post about her on CycloneFanatic.com.

Please let me know if you think you might come. If we have a flood of Fanatics, I will need to make more Green Smoothie Muffins!

We are looking things to do around that area other Friday or Saturday, so we might come there early.

Beautiful tribute, like the snacks.

I shared the Facebook page with my girl, and she thought it was already done this morning. So maybe some will be confused it show July 3th on the banner (I know it says 2021 for the picture, but some will just look into the day around the 4th, so looks this year events).

Yeah, I know that can be confusing. We like that photo because that was the inaugural ride. I may have my son put something on that photo to make clear that it is not from this year's ride.

Hope you can join us. Please ask for Steve and introduce yourself.

I just saw this and it's wonderful. If it's annual, I'll try to make it next year. I know a number of people who want to make the trek to make that trestle anyway, Of course, very sorry for your loss.

You are very much welcome. This is our fourth annual memorial ride, so we expect to do another next year. Perhaps going west as they are hoping to open the connector to the Raccoon River Trail later this summer.
