Matt Campbell is arguably the most successful coach we've ever had, he's been to a bowl game every year except for his first, and you want him gone. How is that a good or easy job? What exactly do you want from the next coach?$5 million a year.
Content with bowl games as long as they understand everyone is giving their best.
Great attendance related to population density of state.
Great facilities on a gorgeous campus.
Very few hostile media to deal with.
Elite conference teams are not nearly unbeatable like SEC and Big10.
Just remember that, for certain, the Iowa State FANBASE did not “fry” a freshman kicker nor is it remotely acceptable to (unprovoked) deflect blame of these 3 losses by antagonizing the most supportive fanbase in college athletics.Just remember you have no idea what emails and messages the kicker got after the Kansas game.
Go to Wisconsin or Nebraska and get fired after 9 or more win seasons with bowl victories. Not many places you can go 7-6 multiple years and be worshipped.
If he landed the job at Notre Dame, he would have found out what a rough fanbase does to you if he had the start Marcus Freeman has had there. Now that we can agree on. If he can't handle even this little bit of pressure from a fanbase who's been great to him for 7 years he's going somewhere else. But if he's that thin skinned over all this then he's not gonna do any better there
Manning played with Campbell at Mt. Union, right? I'd rather not go into this off-season hoping it was bad enough for Campbell to let him go.Good thing is, either the offense gets better and it turns out fine, or it does not and he has to make sone moves.
No OC can survive this kind of performance, other than Brian fermentz.
Eh…it’s one comment in a press conference after a loss. I don’t think we should be so sensitive as to let it bother us. If it turns into a habit of his to blame the fans, then fine…but this feels like a move on and forget it moment. Too many people try to make news out of nothing.Just remember that, for certain, the Iowa State FANBASE did not “fry” a freshman kicker nor is it remotely acceptable to (unprovoked) deflect blame of these 3 losses by antagonizing the most supportive fanbase in college athletics.
What an epically stupid comment from our head coach, which should not sit well with any of us.

Anyone wanting Campbell's head is an idiot.Just remember that, for certain, the Iowa State FANBASE did not “fry” a freshman kicker nor is it remotely acceptable to (unprovoked) deflect blame of these 3 losses by antagonizing the most supportive fanbase in college athletics.

As long as it doesn't happen again, I'm fine with it. As long as the conversations within the program are about moving on from an obviously not qualified OC, its fine. Why not? He’s sticking up for his team. He said something stupid. He’s never said anything like this. It’s a stupid mistake.
Again, I think we all can maybe just assume it was a mistake.
CMC is a cerebral guy and it probably just came out of frustration/wrong.Guys, if you didn't trash our kicker after the last game, he's not talking about you. I get the feeling that the comment is hitting a little close to home for some.

Is Campbell just done at Iowa State now? Feels like he wants to be done honestly......
He may not be talking to us specifically but he is talking about a fan base that has supported him and the team through thick and thin. A support that is relatively unique compared to the actual success on the field.Guys, if you didn't trash our kicker after the last game, he's not talking about you. I get the feeling that the comment is hitting a little close to home for some.
He can lose his friend or lose his team.As long as it doesn't happen again, I'm fine with it. As long as the conversations within the program are about moving on from an obviously not qualified OC, its fine.
It cannot become a pattern though.
I don't know, CSP had to turn in a near winless season before he was sent packing. This situation may endure longer than anyone wants to admit.Good thing is, either the offense gets better and it turns out fine, or it does not and he has to make sone moves.
