Back in the day on the Jock, Marty & Miller had a good thing going, doing what they do today. Mix in the Iowa & Iowa St talk as well as the MLB, NFL, PGA, etc. I didn't catch yesterday's show, but Miller has said over and over that the market has changed and listeners don't want the national talk, which I disagree with whole heartedly, back in June, they were talking calls left and right from fans who wanted to talk the NBA Finals & Stanely Cup playoffs.

I don't know the events that took place yesterday, but Marty has said time and again that the depth chart & recruiting talk bores him to no end, which it does for me as well, the Harrison Beck situation at Nebraska is a great example of why recruiting is so over-hyped.

Let Jon Miller analyze to death the Hawkeye depth chart and Cotlar comes across as being very pro Iowa State (and Iowa for that matter). Let Marty & Miller do their own thing, wether it be talking MLB or breaking down the Iowa State basketball schedule, which considering it came out yesterday would've been a timly topic.

The ratings that came out were mostly the hosts before the programming changes went into effect on June 12th. All but two weeks, I think.

The first book that will show the new hosts will come out in December, I believe.

So what you are really saying is that you had low ratings and you are blaming Deace? :Crunk:

Yes, people wanted to talk about the NBA finals and Stanley cup playoffs, because the playoffs can capture people's attention. I think I'm roughly one of 3 people in the market that watch the NBA regularly, and we know hardly anybody watches the NHL. I understand not wanting to talk depth charts all the time, because it would be boring as hell for me too. But the season starts in about a week, and while there may be mild interest in pro sports in this market, Clones and Hawks is where it's at. You might have to do something you don't want to do hosting a local Iowa sports talk show. Boo-freakin'-hoo.

It seemed to me that they started out from day one trying to avoid talking about the Cyclones and Hawkeyes, which is an absolute death sentence on radio around here. When Deace was hosting the show, I scrambled to try and listen to it and I couldn't have imagined doing anything else. I haven't listened to AM radio with the exception of your show Jon for a long time. I can't listen to Jon because of that timeslot hardly at all, but I at least enjoy it.

I've been Marty and Miller sober for two months now, and... and I feel good. However passionate about pro sports people are around here (and I really enjoy them) the passion surrounding the state schools is ten times that.
