One of Mark McGuire's brothers has a book coming out on Monday, detailing how he hooked Mark up with steriods and alleges he knew it would increase his production, not just heal from injuries.

"The brothers haven't spoken since 2002. They fell out after Jay McGwire's stepson, Eric, tickled Mark and caused Mark to spill coffee on himself. Mark then swatted Eric on the backside. Jay's wife, Francine, then refused to attend Mark's wedding."

I can't believe a brother would do that to another brother. I just can't think of anything that would make me do that to one of my brothers no matter how much money someone gave me. Jay is a loser! Mark is no angel and he deserves the backlash he is getting, but you never sell out your family.

Well, another brother, Dan, did go to Iowa for a while. He was a backup QB, IIRC.

No matter how you feel about Mark or his family I am just saying it is never ok to turn on your family just so you can get paid.

What if he's telling the truth? I imagine some (all?) things are embellished (at best), but still. Even you cannot believe that Mark is a saint and only juiced to recover from injury.

I don't disagree with that quote even though I am a cards fan, but I personally see Jay's betrayal as worse. You just don't sell out your family even if you don't get along.

I guess I'm just hung up on that quote becuase the rest of the article is reasonably well written but that quote is a hodgepodge of information that is not easily read. Sorry - the perfectionist in me I guess.

I do not like Mark McGuire but I feel for him here. I could never do that to one of my brothers and if one of them did that to me, I'd be crushed. What a shame.

I do not like Mark McGuire but I feel for him here. I could never do that to one of my brothers and if one of them did that to me, I'd be crushed. What a shame.

I would get my licks in though. A couple roided out McGwire brothers beating on a kid would be a nice sight. But yeah, what's happening to Mark McGwire is just heart-breaking.
