At least there aren't two SEC teams in there. I would rather have OU in the playoffs being a Big 8 school rather than one of those private Texas schools.

Either Nebraska or Michigan State needs to get the job done against eastern iowa univ., or both of them if we're lucky.

Exactly. I really can't envision a scenario where iowa comes out of this undefeated. Does anybody really think they will win the Bog 10 championship game?

And does anybody really think the supposed 4th best team in the country is actually top 4 material when they are only favored by 2 over an unranked team???

Vomit-inducing stuff, indeed.

Against MSU, I think Iowa can win. They run a style of offense that this Iowa team is built to defend. I don't see them having a chance against tOSU.

Honestly, it doesn't even move my needle a little bit. Years ago, I would have felt ill about it, but anymore, I really don't care. Makes no difference to ISU's program.

OSU isn't very good. Almost every team they've played has had a chance against them. Northern Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Indiana, Mich St with a crappy back up QB. They were awesome last year and have a ton of talent but for whatever reason they aren't nearly as good this year.

Don't waste your time and energy on those guys. I'm a lot more concerned about Saturday's game and who are next head coach will be.

My only reaction was laughing when Mrs00 mentioned that stuff was coming up on her facebook feed from tavernhawks thinking this graphic:

Was the official announcement of who the playoff teams were.

I'll admit I'm jealous. Everywhere you look on the national sports scene, it's Iowa this, Iowa that. Sure, they get ribbed for being the underdog, but not one Iowa fan I know argues that or truly believes they're on the same level as the Alabama's of the world. The ones I know are just happy to be in the conversation. It's not every day (every eternity for us) that a program that wasn't expected to do anything is this close to a national title.

Can you imagine if we ever came this close to a football title?! A boy can dream.

Doesn't bother me in the least bit since I cheer for whomever plays the Choke-Eyes from I-city....and I am going to laugh like hell when Nebraska beats'em Friday afternoon.

I'll admit that I don't mind. Living in eastern Iowa with hok fans is pretty bad but I do have to say they've earned this one and I've come to terms with it. Sure they were given the great schedule but the hoks still had to win to take advantage of it. They aren't pretty to watch but they do get done what they need to do. Every once in awhile it is nice to let the state of Iowa get a little recognition for something other than farming, politics or meth.

Our fanbase has far bigger things to feel nauseous about than what Iowa does. Quit being little brother, people.

I wish I could control what threads would be allowed for a few weeks. It would be anything but that eastern school. Maybe a few if Nebraska wins.

Good for the Hawkeyes. They've beaten everyone in front of them. If anything should make you sick it's when we've lost to teams we shouldn't have. They rarely do that.

The 2005 season irritates me more than any Iowa success ever will.

I am happy for them. A bunch of Iowa/midwest kids playing hard to get a chance at a title. I guess moving away from Iowa has helped. It is typically the fans you hate anyways, not the players. I hope they get a shot as I am sure many on here even have some sort of connections with the players through growing up/families, etc.

Over half their starters are from out of state so spare me the "good for the Iowa kids" crap. You buy your Hawkeye gear for Friday yet?? :jiggy::jiggy::jiggy:

This ... I don't get why as an Iowa State fans I am supposed to care? If we were 10-1 and Iowa being 11-0 was keeping us out of the playoffs it would make me sick... sitting at 3 wins and realizing we left 3 wins and a bowl game on the table... THAT makes me sick.

And any Iowa State fan that says they are rooting for Nebraska for the first time ever on Friday clearly wasn't a fan in 2005... Not that it mattered the next day.
