At the end of the day basketball is a make or miss game. UNI made more shots than us tonight. We gave them some open one with bad defense, but they hit a TON of tough shots including about 5-6 NBA threes. Meanwhile we have good shooters missing open shots over and over including Cook air balling a WIDE open 3. Jesperson is a great shooter, but he wont have a game like that again this year, same with Washpun who normally shoots in the lost 30%s from 3 in his career.

I thought we actually played a lot tighter defense and played with more composure offensively than we did against Iowa. We didn't panic just couldn't hit that big 3 to take a lead and UNI kept making them (we really didn't give them a good look the entire 2nd half but they still made some really long ones.)

Its just one game, need to forget about and keep trying to get better. Its clear the offense needs to be run from inside out. Hopefully they keep with that as the year goes on.

On a positive note, Burton looks like he might be even better than I had hoped. He's going to be taking minutes from Nader pretty quick if he Nader doesn't get his act together.

Not to be a Buzz Killington but we made more shots.

It's pretty obvious what I meant by "UNI made more shots." We made a lot of easy shots around the basket, and not really much else. They made a lot of long, tough contested threes and long step back 2 pointers. Did that explain it better? They wont shoot like that again this year.

Agree.
Two pretty even teams IMO. Both tend to out-play their competition, which didn't happen for either side tonight. We need to hit at least one guy hot from the outside and had zero, UNI had two.

And u just hit our entire season on head. Between Burton, Cooke, Thomas or Monte..one of them has to be a threat from 3 otherwise teams will collapse on Niang and McKay. Cooke should not be air balling a three at that point in game wide open...that was very concerning. He has to be able to contribute for us from 3...has to. Very strange cause he can shoot.
