Made Rite Sandwiches

No, I just like food that actually tastes good and doesn't give me violent fits of diarrhea. But hey, that's just me.

I'm proud to say I lived in Omaha for over 5 years and never stooped low enough to entertain the thought of eating at that place.

*shudder*
I was the one who initially disagreed with the contention that Runza was 6.022 x 10^23 times better (or something like that) than Maidrite. I lived in Lincoln for a time and had a Runza once or twice. It was okay but nothing to write home about. I am not a person that has to have a Maidrite either, but will eat one when opportunity presents itself. I don't think one is orders of magnitude better than the other in either direction.

Oh, loogit Mr. smoother-over here, the big centrist. That's not how epic threads get started, make a definitive stand and everyone else can take a hike.

Runzas suck, Maid Rites rule

<although, I can't vouch for this place in M-town with the questionable food sanitation practices, never been there, but that's not okay>

Fair enough. But I definitely won't be a centrist if the discussion turns to the merits of Stinkin' Lincoln.

my mom used to make something that was hamburger with ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and some other spices - so some kind of sloppy joe but they called it barbeque. I was the only one in a family of 6 who hated them.

I agree with 3true. I've never looked at a hamburger and thought "you know what, cover that in some **** and crumble it up so I can spend 20 minutes trying to not spill it all over the place."

Mom made a sloppy joe in that was similar - not sure about the vinegar. Dad's "mom isn't here to cook" sloppy joe was browned ground beef and a can of Campbell's alphabet soup mixed it. It became a college staple...

I won't shoot you down. I love White Castle!

The best part about White Castle is it doesn't try to pretend to be something that it's not - it's a greasy *** yet delicious hamburger that slides down to your stomach, unlike a Maid Rite, which pretends to not be a greasy *** hamburger that slides down your stomach and instead is greasy *** hamburger crumbles that slides down the front of your shirt on the way to your lap.

If White Castle moved to Iowa at least 50% of the people that love it now would hate it.

White Castle would be bigger than WalMart if they'd put a small shop next to, or across the street from every bar. A sack of sliders on the way home...great nightcap.

I thought there was a White Castle on Douglas in Des Moines as recently as 10 years ago. I'm pretty sure the building has been demolished for a couple years though.
