Sloppy Joes have flavoring.

The only I person I know anymore that likes a true Maid-Rite (ground beef, with a dash of salt) is my 90 year old grandpa. He also doesn't like most people that come around "these parts" and watches Lawrence Welk every night.

In conclusion, I feel like Maid-Rites were popular in the 40s and 50s, when people were singing Jimmy Dorsey and Bing Crosby and spent Friday nights at the local Maid-Rite diner.

I know there are official differences, but I've heard tons of different names for loose meat sandwiches (ground beef with our without sauce). Maidrite, Manwhich (name brand), Sloppy Joe, Tavern

1) Combine with smelly cooked cabbage
2) Contain it in undercooked bread

It's probably a finer grind than what you use. Ground meat doesn't stick together when you keep stirring it.

If you ever thought "I want to eat a hamburger but I want the meat to all fall out of the bun and onto my lap" then you're wanting a Maid Rite.

this is where the grease comes in handy. You squish together the edges of the bun and you end up with a midwestern calzone.

No, most people still grimace at Taylor's Maid-Rite at least as much if not more than about the rest of Marshalltown. A bunch of people in there who think they need to tell you how to eat a sandwich and won't tolerate anyone questioning their dubious food safety practices. No thanks.

No, I just like food that actually tastes good and doesn't give me violent fits of diarrhea. But hey, that's just me.

I'm proud to say I lived in Omaha for over 5 years and never stooped low enough to entertain the thought of eating at that place.
