I got to meet him today when he came to talk to my lifting partner at school . For those of you who don't know who he is, he is the new WR coach. He was a QB at Oklahoma. He was really nice and talked to us for about a half hour. After he talked to us, he talked to our football coach for about 45 minutes.

It was really cool to meet him. He is the only D-1 coach that i can remember coming to our school in a while, for a sport besides wrestling.

I hate to call the grammar police on you :policeman: but there is a real big difference between 'are' and 'our'. You might want to figure it out before you graduate and go out into the world. On a message board it is not the worst thing in the world, but in an e-mail to, for example, a future boss, it would not come off very well.

I absolutely loved playing against LC. I'm glad they were in our conference and district even though they were almost twice our size, also beat them almost every time. Too bad I had to graduate last year.

The kid he was talking to is also being recruited by Northern Illinois. I doubt he will be offered a scholarship. But he could be a solid walk on.

Is this kid graduating or is he going to be a SR next fall?

He's going to be a senior next fall. He is having trouble deciding if he wants to play baseball or football in college. In baseball he would be able to go almost anywhere. My guess is he will end up at NIU, because they are recruiting him for football and baseball.

I remember playing Lewis Central in baseball in 2003. Their coach is insane. We were a little 1-A school that stuck it to them and their coach was dropping F-bombs like crazy. Never bring Kool-aid to a grown man's party.

Where did you go?

Are you sure it was LC? We still have the same coach and i rarely hear him cuss.

I participated in Cy's House of Trivia a couple weeks ago and Luke sat at our table for one of the rounds. He was great. Fun guy, only 30, and absolutely thrilled to be at Iowa State. He said the only reason he even got a look at ISU is because he's recruited the Dallas area for the last 6 years, most recently as the receivers coach at Louisiana-Monroe.

Rhoads, S&C coach Yancy McKnight, John Walters, and Eric Heft also sat at our table for different rounds. It was a thrill. But Luke was the most fun of the bunch. I think he'll relate well to young athletes.

Thanks for the info on Wells. I am very curious to hear about any and all of the new coaches on staff. If anyone else has similar experiences, please let everyone know about them. Thanks!

I had a chance to meet Coach Wells as well- he lives in my neighborhood. Great guy - he and his family are top shelf. They are excited to be in Ames and he is already been very hard at work on the recruiting trail. Beyond the Dallas area, his main local area is SW Iowa.

Best of luck to Coach Wells and all the staff!
