This team consistently had guys ready to step up when the opportunity was presented.

Kempt finished the regular season with a 67% completion rate, 13 TDs, and 3 INTs. A crazy good TD:INT ratio for a quarterback getting his first meaningful snaps in college football.
6 different WR had more than 20 catches.
Lanning learned the LB position quickly and just kept getting better.
Very few big plays given up by the defense from players missing their assignments.

There aren't many teams that I can think of with better prepared players.

Way up there
To add to Croney's day, in the 3rd and 4th quarter the oline blocked really well. Our seats were right behind K-state's bench, in particular right behind their defensive bench and coming off the field after the two TD drives, they were gassed. That was in part to the oline having their way.

I thought Croney had a helluva game. And Mike Warren carried the ball with a confidence I'd not seen in him for a while.

Yeah, had we won we'd be talking about the solid defense and SC. Too bad, but man this team has guys step in and perform like no other ISU team I've ever seen (albeit that's only 20 seasons as a fan).

Kempt had some crucial clutch throws after a shaky start.

Oline has shown big strides in the last two games.

Let's also give kudos to the refs for having the audacity to pick up a flag on an absolutely 100% pass interference. It takes a certain kind of subhuman to be that awful.

I'd say that's a pretty good sample size. :)

2nd half by the offense up until the abomination call was flat out near perfect...three possessions, 2 scores, 18 minutes of possession. That was a grind out plan that was fun to watch...

I thought Croney had a helluva game. And Mike Warren carried the ball with a confidence I'd not seen in him for a while.

Croney was having a great game until he went out for a pass when he should have stayed in to pick up the blitzing QB and Kempt got sacked for an 8 yard loss. Probably the reason for Warren to get some carries. Good job of Mike coming in and making the most of his opportunity.
