From a Big 12 site. I don't see BYU or UCF getting anywhere close to those numbers again.
edit: This made me look. In last 20 years, our longest streak is 5. Campbell has had 3+ W streaks every year but first (2018-2020 five game streaks).

Weren't they ranked in 1938 as well?
According to Wiki we came in at #18 going into our last two games of the season where we tied KSU on the road then got blanked at home against OU.

I found a re-print of the game poster against DU that season at a small store in McGregor. Didn't realize it was the '38 season. Had to get it though! Glad to see we won!

Here's an article which shares ticket stubs, digitized game programs and/or covers (if available), newspaper recaps, photos seen in the newspaper and team photos for every game from the 1930s.
Love this Jared. You really poured a lot your heart and soul into some of the stuff you used to do. It was great. Thanks for the archiving, even though I might not be able to read it all!

From the 1938 season, Iowa State loses the championship game (last game) to OU. OU goes on the the Orange Bowl and plays TN. Would have been great to have some sound and narration to this, but that is just the way it was back then.

Imagine college and NFL going back to leather helmets with no facemasks (or similar). It may not be as far fetched as it seems. Could it lessen concussions? Interesting question.

Granville Hunt seems like an interesting fellow! The guy who filmed the above.
