You should really do 30 minutes of cardio every day if you want to lose weight. You don't have to do intense training starting out. If your feeling fatigued just go for a 30 or 40 minute walk. It will help keep your metabolism up. Or just do work around the house/yard/garage. The biggest problem with most people is we spend too much time sitting on our ***.

Resistance training is always good, but the idea of muscle burning calories while at rest is a little over sold. If you read the studies on it, you have to put on quite a bit of muscle to significantly increase your base metabolic rate. For pure weight loss, cardio and diet are the keys. Really, diet is most of it. If your not tracking calories daily, you should be. You quickly realize that 30 minutes of cardio equals a piece of pizza or a couple of cookies. It will make you think twice about anything you eat.

My Fitness Pal app for iPhone is awesome. You can scan bar codes and it adds the exact food right to your calories for the day. You add your exercise etc. It is pretty addictive. Even if you aren't interested in losing weight you should try it out (its free) just to play with the barcode label thing. I've been doing Farrells for awhile now and I'm getting better results now that I'm tracking everything I eat. I followed the nutrition fairly well before but started eating too much and this keeps me on track.

I agree I have this app along with map my run and HIIT Interval Timer, using all three in combination is sweet.
