Liberty Bowl- My FedEx Jet Scare

There was maybe 2 and half minutes winding down to kickoff at the Liberty Bowl. I was up toward the top in Section 105. I looked up and saw what I assumed was a commercial jet cruising low straight at us. We watched for a good 30 seconds. Honestly I was afraid until I saw it turn and it was a FedEx jet. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I figured with it being a Fed Ex plane they were going to promote it, and there is a pretty awesome photo out now with it.

Well, that would explain the helicopter flying nearby. I was wondering about those two aircraft being in similar airspace (and above a stadium of 55,000 people).

The random Memphis fans we ended up tailgating with told us it would be happening, so we were ready for it. I thought it was pretty awesome.

Not often you see a fly by like that but in today's world I can see where it would be concerning if you weren't expecting it. Pretty cool with Memphis being a FedEx hub.

Off the topic a bit but once I was flying and looked out the window and saw another jet far below mine zip under in another direction.

When you're watching jets take off or land or just way up in the air, you don't realize how fast they are going. That was much more evident in the air and both are moving at the same time. If I would have blinked I probably would have missed it.

Since then whenever I fly through clouds/fog I just figure we're going to collide with another jet, and it's been real.

The plane seemed closer then most other fly overs since it circled the stadium 2 times.

There was a quick glimpse of the plane barely above the stadium on TV before kickoff. I think it was right after the anthem.

Saw it approaching as well and it made me a bit uneasy, but i assumed it was a flyover. I didn't feel totally comfortable until it started banking.

We were still outside as the game began (taking care of a ticket bar code problem, grrrrr). However, we got to see the Fed Ex jet sweeping around the stadium. It seemed like it was right above us. Really cool.
