Leadership?

Are we missing player leadership right now?

TJ used to go on and on about what a leader Big Rob was, King also. You often saw BRE on the court putting his hands on a players shoulders, boosting them up, giving them a pep talk.

Who is truly our Team Leader right now. I understand they are all unselfish, hard working, talented. But it seems there are things going on that are mental and a lack of cohesiveness .

WHO would it be to shut the coaching staff out of the locker room and say let's figure this out.

Thought it would be Tamin, but I’m not sure about that now

Tamin seems to lead by example but does not seem to be very vocal during a game. Sometime a plyer needs to get into his teammates face a bit. Rarely see that from anyone on this team.

Keshon is really the only players on this team I've seen show any flash of emotion on the court. There are times during games it almost looks like Tamin or Jefferson are bored, I can only assume this is by design coming from TJ.

Agree Tamin should be the guy - older, PG, confidence. But maybe his style of leadership (quiet, confident) is not the best for a team in a slump.

I don't think they need a fiery, in-your-face type of leadership, that's just not who any of them are, its not the culture at all. But they do need someone else to help rally the troops, and get them out of the bad vibes and back to believing in themselves.

I think Keyshon is the guy who needs to stand up. Break out that smile man, its infectious. Bring some fun back, and let's just PLAY basketball.

Less pressure, more fun. Relax and be yourselves. Every little thing, gonna be all right.

They're basically being taught to not show emotion, so I'd say it is by design, and it certainly works.

Should be Tamin but he's too much of an unspoken kind of leader, follow his example not him always yelling at guys. Gilbert doesn't even like to field questions in interviews so he's probably not the right guy. Jones would be a good one but he's pretty unassuming. Honestly, no idea who would be best?

We need the Melvinator.

What do we want Tamin yelling, and at whom? The issue really isn't effort, it's personnel. Yelling at Heise for missing shots isn't going to help. Yelling at Chatfield or Dishon for not finishing isn't going to help. And honestly, Tamin is about as big of culprit for our troubles as anyone with how loose he can be with the ball.

If guys aren't giving effort then go for it. But I just am not seeing that as the issue.

It's discipline. Lazy off screens, not moving without the ball, not passing with a purpose or being ready to receive a pass, not hunting shots, not playing tough defense, not rebounding. All of that can't deserve a butt chewing. Shouldn't just be TJ demanding excellence.

I would be absolutely amazed if there are *** chewings happening in film/practice. Just because he's not berating players publicly doesn't mean they aren't held accountable.

I think we need to go back to having CuJO coming off the bench. I think he creates the spark off the bench when he doesn't start. IMHO.

When I said leader, I certainly wasn't equating it with yelling. In fact, with this team it's probably the guy that calm guys down, which I saw BRE do a time or two. Whoever used the phrase "rally the troops" was good sentiment.

I agree but who starts to provide points/stops for the first 5ish minutes?

I mean, is it time for the not so secret (i.e. sports info shares with announcers) team only meeting? Isn't that how this should normally play out?
