Wow, this is a surprise. If, as the Rag article states, Mancow is #2 in the coveted 18-34 year old demographic, why drop him? No offense to those who work local radio, espcially morning drivetime radio, but it's dull & boring. If Saga wants to go local on Lazer, I can envision a "Lou and Round Guy" clone, time and temp every 2 minutes :rolleyes5cz:

I was wondering why he wasn't on the air this morning. I am now officially pissed. Now Ames has ZERO good morning personalities (much like CR). Why wasn't this announced, oh say... EVER on air?

I stopped being attracted to Mancow when I turned 22, the guy is a joke.

KAZR's playlist is AWFUL. I can only listen to GnR so many times in an hour. If they play Hinder one more effing time, I think I'm going to put my head through a plate-glass window. Yay! Now we have no good morning talk radio! :rolleyes5cz:

Never liked Mancow at all. Even when I fell in his demographic I thought he was awful. Howard Stern I love, Bob and Tom I love, Mancow was like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard for me.

Thank god, that guy was a moron. Maybe I can listen on occasion during my commute again.

As the article noted, he has gradually transformed from a witty, funny, sarcastic guy with original content to a conservative political pundit. His show has gotten very boring over the past year or so, especially since Turd left last summer.

If I had wanted to listen to political talk, I would tune in to NPR. It was nice to occasionally turn to Lazer to see what political rant he was going on at that time, but even that got boring. He contradicted himself at least a few times an hour.

Actually Cedar Rapids has Lou and Scott. They're a solid morning show.

Unless they packed up and moved elsewhere already. Seems every time you get someone good they move on. :(

Also, it will be interesting to see what they do to replace his show. I'd prefer music, but we'll get a couple of hacks trying to do a radio show instead. Local talk shows are boring as hell.

Bringing Todd and Tyler in wouldn't be too bad of an idea.

I have yet to find a morning station worth a crap. If I'm listening to a music station, shut up and play music.

So, instead of turning my dial to any of these - I listen to Mike & Mike on ESPN radio. :biggrin9gp:

Maybe I'm not like most 21 year olds, but I loved the politics on his show. He is an idiot about some things (education for instance), but it was more entertaining to argue with my radio, than it is to listen to Papa Roach every hour.

Are you talking adding the syndication version of TnT or luring TnT away from Omaha? Last I knew, TnT were each making or exceeding $100,000 per year.

If Saga wanted to go local on Lazer, dumping one syndicated show for another, doesn't make much sense.

What DM station carries them? I watch them on ESPN 2 while I'm getting ready for work in the morning but can't seem to find them on the radio.

I'm with you on that one.

The only way you can catch Mike & Mike in Des Moines is via XM or Sirius as there is no ESPN Radio affilate in DSM.

I think you may be on to something. TnT have syndicated from Omaha to Springfield, MO and Wichita, but those are all Journal stations. Not sure how it would work being 103.3 is Saga. The Springfield station also carried Mancow, then dropped for TnT. Very interesting.....

I knew Mancow was a nutjob when he claimed he opened his apartment blinds one night and discovered a "silent helicopter" hovering outside his window surveilling him - of course under military operation.

Seriously, what a loser.

Interesting, I used to listen to him a lot but my drive to work is so short now I usually have Cotlar turned on. I have Howard Stern on my Sirius too but Mancow is way better than Stern IMO even now with Stern uncensored.

Guess people are stuck with Bob and Tom, the KGGO Crew, whoever 107.5 has anymore which usually sucks, or Cotlar if you prefer sports talk.

I like listening to 105.1 in the morning...they do about half talk and half music...IMO it's the perfect combination.
